Bandra Bazaar Road

She came as a bride

Today she is happy

An East Indian pride

Her love for this gaothan area

She will never hide

Cottages giving way to towers

Repair permission buildings

With more despair collide

Ruthless builders in collusion misguide

With the municipal authorities old

Cottage owners taken for a joy ride

But the Lord Jesus by her side

The chapel her home

On Sundays to Mount Mary

A short bus ride

Gutter agony of Bandra Bazaar Road

Changing times espied

Wrinkles on the parchment of her face

The Good Shepherd her Guide

When she dies she will be buried

At St Peters cemetery..

If it is not narrowed

To make Bandra Hill Road

a more broadside

Heritage weeping on the way side

Now try meeting your local corporator

Sorry , he is in a meeting access denied

This is Bandra I love..a poetic flip side

Next election his ass will be refried

Bandra property rates manipulated in corruption

People shangied ..

Even Chimbai will have towers on the sea side

Politician’s bureaucrat’s builder mafia profits divide

Pavement dwellers hit and run accident why commit suicide

God is our last Hope some succor provide

This is my poem on the quintessential nature of life that is Bandra Bazar Road the most neglected area of Bandra..

Only we can change the destiny of the area we live by voting for the right candidate beyond party politics..

Those who don’t do anything to give quality life to our future generation have no right to represent us.. its time the politicians realize , we are not Hindus Muslims or Christians or Dalits .

We are humans and should be treated as such…

These are children that sell newspapers in the hot sun, another form of child labor, we all see but nothing can be done about is newspapers are the conscience of our sucked up society.. for those who dont know Hindi -Aj ki Taza Khabar means Todays Good News..

They Live, We Sleep

“We are living in an artificially induced state of consciousness that resembles sleep. The poor and the underclass are growing. Racial justice and human rights are nonexistent.

They influence our decisions without us knowing it. They numb our senses without us feeling it. They control our lives without us realizing it.

They have created a repressive society and we are their unwitting accomplices ...their intention to rule rests with the annihilation of consciousness.

We have been lulled into a trance.

They have made us indifferent, to ourselves, to others; we are focused only on our own gain. They are safe as long as they are not discovered ...that is their primary method of survival.

Keep us asleep, keep us selfish, keep us sedated...they are dismantling the sleeping middle class.

More and more people are becoming poor. We are their cattle. We are being bred for slavery.”

– They Live

This photographic body of work is inspired by John Carpenter’s 1988 film, “They Live.” The movie was also credited by Shepard Fairey “as a major source of inspiration for his own subversive brand of street art.” They Live was the basis for his use of the word ‘OBEY’ that became his main campaign and a popular clothing brand consequently.

The protagonist of the movie, an unemployed drifter named "Nada," accidentally comes across a box of sunglasses. After putting a pair on, he realizes that they are quite special. He sees the world in black and white and discovers that it's not what it seems. The series of images I have created are like those unique sunglasses that Nada stumbled upon, aim to show the world to the viewer for what it truly is. I hope they will help people to take into consideration what they sacrifice by blindly following self-serving governments and corporations’ agendas.

Through this photographic project my intent is to encourage people to be more aware of the habitual ways of living that we have been thoughtlessly following for most of human history. It seems as though the human race would have learned by now to not put their trust in the hands of the misguiding ruling class. Unfortunately most of the humanity is still in the state of mindless consumerism and simply does not realize that their decisions, their entire lives are being manipulated.

Make the people

hold each other's hands

and fill their hearts with truth

you made up your mind

so do as divined

Put on your armour

ragged after fights

hold up your sword

you're leaving the light

make yourself ready

for the lords of the Dark

they'll watch your way

so be cautious, quiet and hark

You hear them whispering

in the crowns of the trees

you're whirling 'round

but your eyes don 't agree

will 'o' the wisps

misguiding your path

you can 't throw a curse

without takin' their wrath

Watch out for the seas of hatred and sin

or all us people forget what we've been

our only hope's your victory

kill that satan who won't let us be - kill!

You re the keeper of the seven keys

that lock up the seven seas

and the seer of visions said before he went blind

hide them from demons and rescue mankind

or the world we're all in wilI soon be sold

to the throne of the evil payed with Lucifer's gold

You can feel cold sweat

running down your neck

and the dwarfs of falseness

throw mud at your back

Guided by spells

Of the old seer's hand

you're suffering pain

only steel can stand

Stay well on your way and follow the sign

fulfill your own promise and do what's divined

the seven seas are far away

placed in the valley of dust heat and sway

You're the keeper of the seven keys

that lock up the seven seas

and the seer of visions said before he went blind

hide them from demons and rescue mankind

or the world we're all in wilI soon be sold

to the throne of the evil payed with Lucifer's gold

Throw the first key into the sea of hate

throw the second key into the sea of fear

throw the third key into the sea of senselessness

and make the people hold each other's hands

the fourth key belongs into the sea of greed

and the fifth into the sea of ignorance

Disease, disease, disease my friend

for this whole world's in devil's hand

Disease, disease, disease my friend

throw the key or you may die

On a mound at the shore of the last sea

he is sitting, fixing your sight

with his high iron voice causing sickness

he is pIaying you out with delight

man who do you just think you are?

A silly bum with seven stars

don't throw the key or you will see

dimensions cruel as they can be

don't let him...your power

throw the key...!

An earthquake, squirting fire, bursting ground

Satan's screaming, and earth swallowing him away!

You're the keeper of the seven keys

you locked up the seven seas

and the seer of visions can now rest in peace

there ain't no more demons and no more disease

and mankind, live up, you're freee again

yes the tyran is dead, he is gone, overthrown

you have given our souls back to light

The ‘newspaper stand’ is soon becoming a forgotten way to communicate with the public. With more online news subscriptions being made, newspaper companies are leaving these structures abandoned. I want to use this endangered specie as a new way to communicate with the public once more. This is achieved using the concept of ‘site specific’ in the real world as well as the online world, and also by introducing a different concept of ‘time specific’. This technique helps to create a story on the street as well as the webpage in which the images are added to. Each newspaper stand represents a single page in the story “The Story of How Things Came to Bee”. Once the newspaper stand is placed back in the location from which it was originally borrowed from, a picture is taken at the exact time in which the story takes place. By adding the images to the webpage it allows for a narrative to bee created by using ‘notes’ (these are viewed by scrolling over the image) which can not bee seen on the street. Lastly, a map showing the locations of the newspaper stand is sited as well, allowing the online viewer to travel to each location and view these scenes in real life.

"Telephone companies have been abandoning their public telephone booths by taking out the phones and leaving the structures beehind. (Probably due to the rise in cell phone users.) I want to reuse these structures as a way of communication with the public once more by replacing that empty space with paper-mache beehives. To me, this symbolizes the irony beehind the question, 'where have so many of the bees gone' and the theory that cell phone signals have been misguiding their normal patterns of migration"

Celebrating the New Year ?

Not for Muslims !

Don't Celebrate NEW YEAR.SAVE your EMAN !!!

January is named after Janus, the Roman god of doors and gateways. He was commonly depicted in statues, carvings and paintings as a two headed man with one head facing forward and the other head facing backwards. In 46BC Julius Caesar chose January 1st as the first day of the New Year as Janus symbolically represented the door to the New Year. Wild parties and orgies were held on the night before the NewYear’s Day as a re-enactment of the chaos which Roman mythology depicted as preceding the cosmos orthe ordered world whose organizationwas set by the gods. Furthermore, by that time, Janus had become, inpractice, the highest god receiving the ritual sacrifices of Roman worshippers before the other gods, including the chief god, Jupiter.

Thus, in its essence the celebrations of the New Year on January 1st and New Year’s Eve, the night before, are a partand parcel of pagan religious rituals based on idolatrous beliefs in false gods. Consequently, it is completely Haraam (sinful and forbidden) forMuslims to participate in or adopt any ofits related rituals, customs and symbols. If a non-Muslim greets a Muslim, “HappyNew Year”, the Muslim is not allowed to respond in a similar manner or say,“Same to you.” Instead, in order not to offend or hurt the feelings of non-Muslim friends or acquaintances, one may say instead, “Happy holiday.”As for celebrating the New Year according to the Islamic calendar which begins with the month of Muharram(Hejre calender which followed by Lunar calender),this is also not permissible from a number of perspectives. First and foremost, if one does so believing that itis pleasing to Allah to do so, there by transforming it into an act of worship, itbecomes a Bid‘ah or cursed innovation in the religion about which the Prophet(pbuh) said, “Every innovation in religion is misguidance and allmisguidance leads to the Hellfire.” If one does so merely as a custom, it is still impermissible as it falls under the prohibition of imitation of pagan customs about which the Prophet (pbuh) said, “Whoever imitates apeople becomes one of them.”

Pope Gregory 13th who set the modern calendar, the Gregorian calendar, also officially fixed the first day of the year for Christian Europe as January 1st in 1582.

Today was dad's business meeting. This is the only picture we have of today, because we spent the day on the road.

His meeting was 3 hours by car from our hotel. We learned to hate our Route 66 MINI GPS. It went completely nuts!!

Yesterday it said the best route was to first go East to Brescia and then down South to our destination. Today it woke up temperamental and insisted we go first West to Milan and then head down South. Okay... I guess... But it's not one of those GPS that reads traffic information, you know?

As we were getting on the A4 highway (Milan-Brescia-Venice) it suddenly changed its mind and said that we should take the Eastbound ramp (towards Venice, that is towards Brescia, as initially planned). We did so.

During the next two hours the stupid gadget insisted that we take every single possible exit and go back West to Milan. We learned to ignore it as we watched the ETA rise and rise to way past the meeting time. Is Milan paying Route 66 to bring people there or what??

After the last exit we ignored, the stupid thing recalculated for the n-th time and suddenly the ETA dropped from 11.30 to 9.30!! Hooray for Route 66's path search algorithm!! I mean what kind of junk is this??

We did a short stretch on the A1 and, again, when we were on the ramp to the road that would lead us directly to our final destination, it tried to misguide us again!! Luckily there was a clear sign stating our destination (not all that many signs in Italy's roads, you know), and by now the GPS's word had no weight whatsoever on our decisions.

In the return trip, all seemed to go well, but we kind of forgot to pay more attention. We should have taken only a short stretch of the A1 and then the road to Brescia, but forgot about that. The devlisih device finally tricked us into getting its way. Before we knew it we were entering Milan!!!! Grrrrr!

So what was Milan like? Well, now we call traffic jams "milanesas", so you get the idea... thank goodness we didn't pass via Milan on the way to the meeting, or we would have never made it on time!

There is much I find beautiful about the Catholic faith. As a 24 year old, the timeless truth presented and taught by the Church is a constant source of refreshment, challenge, and joy, especially when compared to the already outdated and antiquated notions of freedom and liberation, political and material efficiency that have been presented to my generation by the passing ideas of the past forty years.

I take solace in the fact that the faith I have been handed remains unshaken and at her core the Church does not move with the arbitrary winds of change in the culture but moves with the loving and thoughtful wind of the Holy Spirit.

I take solace in the truth that this faith, so ridiculed and despised by those who come in the name of a wayward feminism, authentically presents the beauty and uniqueness of the feminine genius, and as opposed to the the not-so-feminine feminism of the secular culture that tries to rob woman of all things womanly and make them de facto men, the Church, especially John Paul II spoke of the need for woman to be woman, and in this way finding freedom and beauty, with Mary of Nazareth as the model of strength and truth for women.

I also take solace that even in the face of two thousand years of mistakes, sin, and scandal there has also been two thousand years of virtue, charity, repentence, love, and saints. And this is beautiful that the Church portrays an authentic vision of our human condition, and the ultimate hope that the gift of eternal joy given a person by the Father is exactly that, a gift, no one earns it, even one as radiant as Mother Teresa, all is gift.

One of my concerns, especially as Pope Benedict's visit comes closer, is the mainstream culture's inclination to try to fit the Church into labels that are meant for American politics. Even some Catholic writers fall to this misguiding and misrepresentive way of presenting the Church and the Pope. It is even more detrimental than most think, creating an atmosphere of confusion and mistaken ways of approaching the teachings of the Church.

A source of hope is that many of the youth of the Church are in love with this faith, especially in Philadelphia where I live, and view the Church not as some out of date, authoritarian regime, but as a mother, who guides her sons and daughters to truth, and beauty, and true freedom, which the world and the passing idealogies of our time cannot give.

And finally I find hope in the beautiful gift of the Church's vision of human sexuality, especially through the teaching of John Paul II, and his Theology of the Body, which shows our bodies and sexuality as phenomena with an almost unthinkable dignity and beauty, so much more than even Hugh Hefner could imagine or dream.

The body having so much dignity that my greatest hope is found when I hear the word's, 'The Body of Christ,' and take Him who founded the Church into my body to be in communion with Him.

i've been thinking about collective thoughts all day on day two hundred and seventy one. the topic of perfection came up today as i read the 'single dad laughing blog' about the disease of perfection, but this is something i've been thinking about the last few weeks. i had found something i had printed about five years ago, i found it on this guy's myspace.. but these words had always stuck with me. it's about the endless pursuit of happiness through material things. the "if only i had the latest prada bag, THEN i'd be happy." or the "once i get my dream home, i'll FINALLY be happy." only to be met with that same empty space that we were trying to fill in the first place...

here are the words that stuck with me..

true happiness-

"so many of us walk through this life erroneously searching for something that is an illusion. searching for pleasure, more possesions, a man or a woman, a better job, a better dog, a better high, something more, always something more than we have at the moment. we mistakenly believe that when we attain whatever it is we're searching for we will finally be content and happy. we become self indulgent and greedy and driven and hungry for that greener grass on the other side of the hill. then that funny thing happens, we reach that place we've been striving so hard to get to; yet we find we're still not happy, we want more. we get exactly what we want but discover it wasn't the key, so we search for something more, more, more, and think maybe just over that next hill.

and so it goes, a vicious cycle of discontent and countless grains of sand which are forever lost. we restlessly walk toward our own ambition dragging around heavy chains of introversion and shamelessly missing out on so much beauty and laughter along the way. just over that hill, then i'll be happy. as soon as i get that car, then i'll be happy. as soon as i find my soul mate, then i'll be happy. years or a life may pass before we tragically realize that we've missed the point and we'll never be happy with such misguiding. happiness was there all along; we just missed it.

have you ever known someone who just has a glow about them? someone who always has a sparkle in their eye and a smile from ear to ear, who is never hesitant with a compliment to brighten the life of whoever may be around them at that moment? have you ever wondered how they do it, what they have that you don't? the truth is they may or may not have materials, they may or may nor have the job of their dreams, they may or may not even have someone who loves them to go home to every night; yet they're always happy, not dependant on any other circumstances, they are happy simply because they choose to be, because they are content with what they have and are content with simply living, simply breathing and laughing and crying and thinking and feeling. they realize that it is all within their own heart and mind, whether they choose to be happy or sad, to smile or to frown.

*i added this part* but most importantly they love themselves. they forgive themselves. we're human, we all make mistakes along the way."

His Holiness Younus AlGohar answers questions from a viewer in Egypt, who wanted the know about intentions of the heart and how to get God’s presence in the heart.

Main points:

- Intentions are something you plan and then execute; they don’t necessary have to be from the heart. God is concerned about the intentions of your heart. If your heart is impure, the intentions therein are impure. If it's purified, the intentions therein also become purified. With the presence of God in your heart, all intentions of the heart will be about God & his love; it will be stronger than any other desire.

- The heart itself isn't impure; when it was placed in the body, it was placed along with the satanic spirit, the Nafs. The Nafs’ diet is Naar (fire). When the heart was placed inside the body, it became entrapped in 180 000 layers of Naar, which made it impure.

- To become a Momin (true believer), Divine Energy of the Declaration of Faith must enter the heart. For this, you need a Spiritual Guide. With authority and permission of God, the spiritual guide will remove the 180 000 layers on the heart and implant the seed of God's name therein. Salat and fasting have been made obligatory upon Momineen only, as evident from Prophetic Traditions and verses of the Quran.

- When your heart is not purified, not articulated with the commemoration of God and not introduced Divine Energy, you are not on the right path. Misguidance according to God is that one’s heart is so hard that divine energy of God’s name does not enter their heart.

A few weeks ago I asked if I could shoot this couple for my project 365. They were OK with it, and earlier today asked if we could do it tonight. As it turned out, tonight was perfect for the purpose.

The title may be a little misguiding. In fact they have been engaged for half a year now, and there are only two weeks until the wedding takes place. Anyways, they were very fun to work with, creative themselves and really made the session work. All I had to do was shoot the pictures.

I lit this picture with one SB-600 on subjects left, like 4 or 5 meters away, sligthly low angle it seems from the shadow. I got myself a CTO on the flash and triggered it with Cactus V4. I used the Speedlight white balance, but later cooled it down a bit in iPhoto, not all the way to tungsten, but at least a few hundred Kelvin.

The Cactus trigger did give me some minor problems, since I was working from some distance. I had borrowed a 55-200 lens from a friend, and most of the time I was in 200mm f5.6, hence the distance. This made it important to have the antenna on the V4 raised, and turn it towards the flash. Whenever the camera shadowed the transmitter, the flash would not fire.

The location is Aker Brygge in Oslo, Norway

This building model comes apart into three modular sections:

- lighthouse, lower level (this is sleeping / storage area for the crew when not at sea.)

- light house, upper level (storage area for whale oil for keeping the light lit)

- actual light - (rotates around, though it's usually lit for use in misguiding ships onto the nearby rocky coral reef surrounding Skull Island.)

" I'm confused ", ponders the kid. " If the Caliphate themselves succumbed to internal politics and backstabbing, are we too wrong to sin ourselves? "

Taken during the Ashura festival in the Hossaini Dalan ( thats where my house is, yay! ) premises with a 80-200mm AF-D lens, MF on my shiny old D40. I was in my PJs when I heard the drums and instantly went outside with a makeshift assortment of lenses in my bag.

Looks like no major denominations are without 'factions'. I'm the follower of one, and question remains whether we are the secessionist ourselves or not !

Damn, our "Islam Shikkha" books are so misguiding :( Is it too wrong to admit that even the 4 great caliphs might've had a dark persona ??

PS: Just to let everyone know, I'm fully aware of the volatility of the question/argument I've raised here. Although a Sunni Muslim, you can clearly see that I have a largely neutral POV when it comes to historical narration. If my views towards the split in Islam offends anyone, let if be known that I'm deeply sorry for that. Also, dude..grow up and open your eyes.

and i see little cracks

escalating, spreading, gradually

and shaking our beliefs,

misleading,

misguiding.

May we all realize it before it's too late.

We departed the NC ren last weekend just as the first drops of rain

began to fall. When we arrived home, there was a message on the

answering machine "please come over and fix your tent". Hmmm, well that

wasn't going to happen. On friday we arrived back on site to find our

tent flipped upside down with the above sign taped to it. Thanks for the

help guys.

The tent was is fair condition so we re-set it up and went to bed. At

4am the rains came. I sat up thinking 'I have to check the tent' but it

was warm in the tent and freezing outside. At 5am I couldn't take it and

threw on pants and shoes and padded over to the site. the winds were far

worse on site, and I arrived to find the tent completely destroyed.

Unsalvadgeable. I woke rossana and she confirmed the fact. The rain was

still sporatic. We couldn't do the day wothout some kind of shelter.

There was nothing to do but get to Wal-mart and get a replacement. But

when we arrived we discovered that they didn't carry them. Fuck. But

where there is a wal-mart there are Sams clubs. We got the address and

spent the next hour trying to get to it. The town of Raleigh is built

like a big wheel, with an outer belt, and a series of spokes. These are

designed to quickly and efficiently take you away from wherever the hell

it is you need to go. I swear, this town was design to confound foreign

invaders through badly labeled and misguiding roads.

We eventuaaly found the Sams club, only to learn that they wouldn't open

for 30 minutes. The clock was ticking. The show opens at 10am. We

pounded on the door, flashed our membership cards, and fell on the mercy

of the manager. He took pity on us and we bought an EZ up. This is the

standerd tent for craft shows. Its well made, but not very medieval. We

threw it in the van and drove back to the site. The sky had been

lightening, but when we got back on site the rain was falling again. We

set up the tent and went for breakfast.

The weather changed wildly throughout the day, from sunny, to slate grey

skies, to rain, to wind. At times, we had to have customers help us hold

down the tent. How we managed to do sales was beyond me. By the end of

the day it was raining and there was a tornado watch in effect. We

called it quits. Rossana and I were wet and chilled to the bone. The

rain stopped, we dropped the tent, packed all the stock in the van and

went to change. Now we find that our camping tent has partially blown

down. We re-set it as best we can and abandon it. Fuck this event, I'm

getting a room. We check in and take hour long showers to thaw out.

turned on the tv to learn that the Pope died. Not a great day all the

way around.

Wow! im four full weeks into this weekly 365 project and even im shocked that im actually keeping up with it lol....i know Vix (who gave me the idea to start this up) would be proud.

But this week has been pretty good actually, hours at work kinda picked back up for me at least...and that one day i had to process an hazmat really gave me some extra time on the clock so hey cant be mad at that.

Went and got in a good word Wensday night at church...had another guest speaker and the title of his sermon was "Im Better Than That!!!" and let's just say that man put it all into perspective for everyone.

Basically when you get those folks coming at you from each and every direction trying to break you down, belittle you, just take your shine away....and you start to well...."act your skin color" as we say lol.

Just remember...you're better than that. Dont give em the satisfaction of giving in to em b/c the next time they'll come right back and do it again.

It seems like since ive started going to these weekly services ive always taken something away from the sermon and applied it to my daily life and it seems to be working out, i mean i know his word would never be wrong or misguide me so ill keep using it day in and day out.

The football is just a prop really lol, got it from one of the managers at work that orders all kinda good stuff from our online store, i even got an UPS water bottle from him yesterday too....i like these little perks this job has.
