star wars exhibit at the discovery science center

Since the Millennium Falcon is exposed to rather extreme feats of space travel. I chose to paint on a much heavier weathering; than what is normally presented.

It's been nasty outside, so I've been playing around with my new (used) flash indoors. This is my first attempt at a little off-camera lighting.

I couldn't decide whether to center the text or line it up with the middle of the figures and the Falcon. I decided to center it in the frame, but I'm thinking that was a mistake.

I used a 430EX with a diffuser, camera-right, and a 580EX mounted on the camera, bounced off the wall of the left.

I wish the C3PO mini-figure had a little more detail on its head. It's not washed out by the flash. That's just how it looks.

I really need to re-shoot this so that Luke's saber isn't obscuring part of Leia's face. Oh well. I've already wasted more time on this than I should have. Work is crazy right now.

Happy Thursday. We're officially past the mid-week hump!

Lego Millenium Falcon 75105 modified

The most notorious Bounty Hunter of all!

For me its all about the costume. I love the makeshift look of it and how none of it realy matches at all. And then there's the rough almost mechanical voice...at least there was. Not to mention Fett's the only baddie in Empire to talk to Vader any way he wants. Good times.

Wasn't thrilled with the drab color scheme Habro gave their Vintage Collection Fett so I gave him a full repaint, mended the cape, and modded the helmet or the head under it rather. No need to see that ugly clone mug anyway.

I dreamed of having one as a kid... The original Millenium Falcon miniature on show at the Singapore Science Centre exhibition 'The Art of Star Wars'.

Just what the title says.

The "Bespin Gown" was a short-lived wardrobe change late in the second act of Empire that really only serves to show you that Han and Leia are getting settled in right before everything goes to pot.

As far as the figure goes this is probably my least favorite version of the five. That said I dig the fact that she has graphics on her vinyl "dress". Can't think of any of the other vinyl caped figure from the line that had anything like that.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My setups are generally not very ellaborate, but this is one time where I think simplicity worked in my favor. Its just a few spray painted water bottles and some cheap floor tiles.

Shit, another lightsaber!! :(

The jail break sequence is without a doubt the better part of Jedi and it really starts to get interesting once the runt of a Bounty Hunter that brought in Chewie is revealed to be none other than Princess Leia incognito. Although its fairly uncertain as to which point Jabba and his crew discovered the ruse it served its purpose long enough for her to finally free Han Solo from Carbonite.

This figure in particuar I'm really fond of but I can't honestly think of a bad version of Boushh disguise Leia. Even the POTF2 was a knockout. Incidently this is the only version to have a handle protruding from the staff/rifle.

A microscale Millenium Falcon I designed for a friend's birthday present.

2021 Christmas tree

The Tie pilot here is my latest fine vintage pickup and I couldn't resist snapping him right quick. He was sort of an impulse buy and my mst mint figure but a neccessity for the eventual Emperor's Arrival dio.

He's a fairly clunky sculpt by Kenner's standard but features some nice decal work on the helmet and shoulders. At first it seems like an odd thing for Tie Pilots to be released under the ESB banner but by that time there would've been two variations on the Tie Fighter vehicle and the Tie Bomber as well.

The "Just OK" Force Awakens model of the Millenium Falcon has been remodeled! New Technology and a new look! More awesome junk a filling pieces! More realistic and looks like the real thing! New secret compartments, passageways to and through the cockpit, gunners controls, and escape pod area.

Ready for a run with some smugglers?

Obi-Wan gives Luke some Jedi training while R2-D2 tries to beat Chewey at a table game, now where have I seen this before?

"Yes, Lord Vader, but..."

"What is it, Commander?"

"We found several of our men, tied up and unconscious. Two of them were Stormtroopers. They were naked...."

"Naked Stormtroopers do not concern me, Commander."

Day: 039/365

Hadn't done a SW shot in a while and I sort of let my ESB set go to pot so I figured I'd start back up again with the vintage Kenner guys and kicking 'em off is a figure who needs no introduction: The Imperial Stormtrooper.

The first army builder. Of course I suppose you could've army built Mego Soldier Apes and Klingons but really who did that? Anyway, the Stormtrooper is probably the most accurate of the original twelve and I don't just mean the paint apps; even the sculpt is pretty on point when you look at all the details in the ab section, the helmet, and even the asymmetrical shin and thigh armor.

You certainly couldn't have a vintage SW collection without getting at least one of these guys, but why stop there! The old Kenner catalog dios and boxart featured as many as 10-20 Stormtroopers in some cases and while they may pale in comparison to today's toys they still hold their vintage charm even if you're not nostalgic for the galaxy far, far away.

The Death Star Commander I actually got in a trade with D-Con last year and I feel like a db for just now giving him some screen time. Thanks again, Dan-O!

Been playing with a lot of Lego lately :-)

"He will not be permanently damged."

Fett's the only person to talk to Vader any way he likes in Empire, an act that could most certainly get you killed on instant.

When you're playing with Lego, who knows what's going on on around the other side of the box?

For the 365 Days 'Seven Deadly Sins' mini-challenge.

As much as I love Fett, the Biker Scout, and Bespin Han I have to say these three are really some of my favorites shoot. Han and Leia in particular are very complimentary figures. ...Pretty sure I just made that term up.

Alternate take of the Shuttle on Endor. Really glad I was able to get out today for soe pics. Definitely helped me break through a bit of a creative block.

Modified Lego Millenium Falcon 75105

Front view: the mandibles

Generally when collectors think of Vintage Star Wars figures two numbers come to mind; the first 12 and the last 17. The Jawa here is part of the former released in late '77 early '78 depending on who you go by. He came in either a vinyl cape (similar to that of Old Ben save for the size) or the well-tailored cloth robe seen here. If I had to guess I'd say the cloth was a production change in order to offer the toy-buying parents of the lates '70s a little more bang for thier $2 seeing as he's so tiny a figure. Personally I sort of prefer them without any cape at all as the actual figure does the job nicely on its own, but nonetheless here he is in all his unabiding disgusting glory. This is actually one of my favorite figures from the Original 12 in general second to maybe the Stromtrooper.

C3PO wandering the passageways of my custom Falcon.

Continuing on in order of appearance... This one is my favorite of the Kenner Leias, but I've always prefered the ESB looks of the main cast in general. The body/outfit sculpt is a vast improvement over her '77 predecessor, but I think that one got the better looking headscupt of the bunch.
