Franklin Park's Overlook Ruins, the site of the original Overlook Shelter, part of Frederick Law Olmsted's original park plan and one of the few buildings he designed. The structure had several uses over time including the park police station during the 1920's and 30's, before it burned to the ground in the 1940's.

Franklin Park is considered the 'crown jewel' of Boston's Emerald Necklace, a series of interconnected urban parks designed and landscaped by Fredrick Law Olmsted in the later 19th century. Overall the Park covers some 527 acres in the Boston (MA) neighborhoods of Jamaica Plain, Roxbury, and Dorchester.
