Just received my latest shipment from Goulet Pens today. Noodler's Habanero ink, Noodler's Kung Te-Cheng ink (came with a free eyedropper pen & free Kuretake brush pen), Noodler's brush pen in "Galapagos" (so beautiful!!!), Pilot Metropolitan pen with fine nib, and ink samples of Noodler's Blue Ghost, Noodler's Whaleman's Sepia and J. Herbin Stormy Grey (can't wait to see how the gold in it sparkles!)

Sears Building Materials 1909
Sears Building Materials 1909 advertising portable buildings, sectional buildings, the closest thing to prefabricated that Sears ever sold until the Homart Homes were introduced.
I would be REALLY surprised to find one of these still standing! Think storage shed in a box from a home improvement store. Will those still be around in 100 years? Doubtful.
On Tuesday afternoon, I took a self-guided tour of the Aria Fine Art Collection at the Aria Resort and Casino (3730 S. Las Vegas Blvd.). Stop 6 on the tour is this hanging sculpture located on Aria's second-level promenade; it is titled ''Feeling Material XXVIII'' and was created by artist Antony Gormley. (You can see another view of this sculpture in the next photo.)

The human form has long been the theme of Antony Gormley's innovative sculptural work. Feeling Material is another of his continually developing series, in which the artist attempts to describe the space filled by the body using a matrix formed of orbits. Gormley's re-invention of the human form hangs suspended over the Promenade oculus, interacting with the architecture of the space on multiple levels.
Over the last 25 years, Gormley has reinvigorated the human image in sculpture through a radical investigation of the body as a place of transformation, using his own body as subject and tool. He has been the recipient of the Turner Prize (1994) and the South Bank Prize (1999) for his celebrated contributions to contemporary British sculpture.

Day 1:
Materials Layout.
All this stuff will make me a Kayak.
Kits are available But I had the desire to do this completely myself.
I also saved about 300 dollars in the long run.
I purchased the plans online from Shearwater Boats, located in Ct..
I purchased the wood, epoxy & other supplies from Newfound Woodworks located in Bristol New Hampshire.
The gentlemen was very helpful and prices were very resonable. He even added the company of his freindly dog Rocky, between questions answers and walking around his three floor shop.
The process is called Stitch & Glue.
Here is a basic summary of the process.
1.You take the hull boards, precutt to size & join them using copper wire.
2.You then apply epoxy to all the seams .
3.After it cures, you then apply a thin coat of epoxy to the entire hull.
4.You then drape a sheet of fiberglass over the hull and apply a smooth coat of epoxy to the enitire hull.
5.Repeat process for the deck, except the applying the fiberglass part.
6.You place the deck onto the hull and epoxy it together.
7.Drape fiberglass over the deck and apply a thin coat of epoxy.
8.Varnish or paint the entire boat.
9.Go for a ride.
ENRICHMENT METER...Measurement of the uranium enrichment in 2.5-ton cylinders of uranium hexaflouride (UF6) product from the AEC's Oak Ridge and Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plants is done with a portable "enrichment meter." Circa 1974.

Materials Science and Engineering Professor Tim Chambers working with molten metals in the MSE Advanced Lab in the Herbert H. Dow Engineering Building on the North Campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor on Friday afternoon, February 17, 2023. The floor of the lab where the pour will happen has a layer of sand on it to protect it in case of spills.
The Advanced Lab is home to MSE 360, a course about structural materials used for building everything from vehicles to buildings and beyond. In the first half of the course, students learn standard alloys before moving into design. MSE 360 is an opportunity to gain experience in both theory and application.
