In a new twist as I return to my roots, I've started abstract collaging again. Only this time, instead of using my fractal work as the source material, I've invited myself to use the Visual Mashups pool!

It took a lot of work to get them to work, I was surprised. I'm not sure they are a better set than my first four Abstract Fractal collages. What do you think?

home made mashup featuring the Hob from a while ago

Playing a little bit.

Nice to create, instead of produce, once in a while.

Take the perfect sky, and the perfect sea, and watch it all from the perfect place.

Am now intrigued to try this more often.

Wonder what it'll be like to mix different people and places from different times.

Slowed it down this month. Sorry for my absence of late but just taking a breather…finally got myself some ND filters so hopefully will get some LE shots soon and get back into some photography action, haven't taken them for a test drive yet. Though as you can see I'm still trudging through my iPhone 365, the second half of Feb was getting a tad uninspired.

Mashup of stickers, graffiti, and selfie.

First photos taken with my new Nikon D200!

Slave Leia meets a Rogue/Leia mashup. Who says X-men and Star Wars don't mix?

"Architextures" is a series of composite images. Each image is a mashup of multiple photographs. At least one of the sources is of an architectural subject, anything from closeup walls or windows to broad cityscapes. The added images provide texture or pattern. In some, the architectural forms are preserved and obvious. In others, the pictures become pure abstractions. Yet in all of them, the inherent geometry, angles, lines, and repetitions of the architecture are essential to the geometry and esthetics of the final image. Most of the source images used for this series are already posted in this photostream. The links to the original and source images are listed below.

The ”High Rise” sets are based on images of the Atlanta, Georgia skyline and its tall buildings. Source images and explanatory notes are elsewhere in this photostream.

Base images used for the High Rise series are:

Bottom: Old version

Some older members may remember the old version, and some may recognize it from one of my N3 weapons (The Asmodeus) And it's also the group icon for the DA group.

Well I've redone it now!

About:

When on the of the Rockefeller center I was gobsmacked by the view, and all the activity below, when I saw a building platform my intention was to photograph it and zooming in at different zoom levels and make a triptych of it.

When I started today on it I decided to try something different and paste two different shot is a global shot. Maybe the triptych will come eventually.

Location:

New York, USA

This image is also geotagged

Technical stuff:

Mashup of HDR fisheye shot from the Rockefeller center.

Merged in a shot of Empire State Building from the lower deck into the layer, sized to approx. the same dimension, applied mask to this and masked away this merged on the foreground stone.

Merged another closeup shot of building platform of a new tower in front of the Rockefeller center. Applied mask to only reveal the platform

Mashup Camp featured "speed geeking," a fun term for an hour in which attendees ping-ponged from table to table in five-minute spurts to get a taste of the 30 or so mash-up applications on display.

all depends on how you put it together, i suppose.

Big mixup of splatters, and stencils. It makes for a busy canvas, but I was happy nonetheless

Since it's the release anniversary of "The Shining" (May 23, 1980) and last week marked several of the "Star Wars" films anniversaries (and Peter Mayhew's birthday), I made a mess of these two for Mashup Monday.

I'm finding more and more that soup can be made from almost any ingredients.

I bought a butternut squash for soup today, and thats the bulk ingredient. I brown onions and garlic in olive oil, add a box of vegetable stock, water, then the slice up squash. But I also added in maybe 5 potatoes and all the carrots left in the drawer. Once it simmered for maybe 90 minutes, I pout the chunks in a blender to thicken, returned t pot and added salt, pepper, sage, pumping spice, and some nutmeg.

I made more than a gallon of soup, lots in the freezer now.
