Instead of just taking a picture of an ordinary tree, I laid down beneath the tree to take the picture, allowing for a unique perspective.
Our Japanese maples were planted in 1993/94 - this year the color has been spectacular. October 2006
This is a tiny tree next to the Kitakami River in Morioka but every year it is one of the brightest and most colorful around!

I named the Scottish fold Maple cats after my favourite Scottish singers & musicians. They're the Fraser family, after one of my favourite singers, Elizabeth Fraser (The Cocteau Twins), & also because I'm an Outlander fan.
mother - Elizabeth, father - Alasdair (after Alasdair Roberts), son - Stuart (after Stuart Murdoch), daughter - Isobel (after Isobel Campbell), baby - Owen (after Marcus Eion Sandison). Eòin is the Scottish version, but Owen seemed more apt with the baby being purchased in Wales.
