k so I just needed to make one of theses to-scale with the Attack Shuttle, Twilight, and Charger retrofit you will see below. its one of the most famous ships in the Clone Wars, and again, I had to make it. On to the technical bits den!
Designed by Rothana Heavy Engineering, the LAAT packs some serious firepower and also a line snatched directly from a lego catalog. technical name would be "Repulsolift-class Attack Gunship". I even included two missile launchers with cockpits on the wings. the "real" thing includes a maximum load of over 30 poeple (excluding the two pilots), surprisingly no comsumables (a freaking Y-wing can have comsumables for a week but a LAAT has none lolwut?? what hast thappened to thou Rothana Heavy Engineering????).
Thanks for looking, raphy

I'm not completely happy with it; the composition of the original, lovely, picture didn't lend itself to a square format so I had to wedge the text at the top.
I certainly don't expect perfection, but I am hoping for at least a little improvement in my very occasional in-flight shots, LOL! The weather was perfect today, so I took this quick shot (cropped and not very sharp) on a walk in Fish Creek Park this morning. There were so many Canada Geese flying in huge groups. At one point, though, there was good reason - a Bald Eagle that landed in a tree across the Bow River, clutching a huge fish in its talons!
I recovered this chair with linen that I hand printed with my own design. blogged at mayamade.blogspot.com/2008/09/old-chair-made-new.html
This isn't an exchange, but more of a "gift it forward" kind of thing. The people you make something for will not be making anything for you unless you happen to get on their list.
The first five (5) people to respond to this post will get something made by me - something REAL that you could actually stub your toe on if you left it lying around on the floor.
This offer does have some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully.
1. There is no guarantee that you will like what I make, although I really hope you do. And, remember, sometimes it's okay to tell a little white lie to spare a person's feelings. *sniff*
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It will be done 3 months from the day I make my offer.
4. I will not give you any clue what it's to be, so don't bother begging. ;-)
5. I reserve the right to do something extremely Me.....
6. If you sign up to receive something from me, all you need to do is offer your own "Make 5".
7. It might be one of my favorite creations: Vegemite on toast :)
8. I'm willing to ship anywhere in the world, but if you have geographical limits, please say so in your own post.
9. Since you're offering to Make 5 gifts, it's probably okay to sign up for 5 other people's "Make 5". Just follow your own heart on that. :)
10. Even though you sign up for others' Make 5, you might not actually get anything. It's probaby best to plan to give with no expectation of a return gift. You just never know. :-

Most of the time I shoot portraits and headshots of ordinary people with no or very little makeup, but this one was a bit diferent. She worked as a makeup artist with her own salon, so she did know a thing or two about how to prepare her face and skin for a photo shoot. Lucky for me.
The lighting I used was a Profoto 5 foot Octa as fill behind the camera and me, and a White Softlight Reflector (beauty dish) above it and a bit closer to her face. A Profoto Compact in a Strip Softbox with softgrids was my hair/rim light on some of the photos.

Developed in Lightroom 3 using the Portrait profile, adjusting the white balance and adding some contrast/sharpness. Nothing more really, her excellent makeup skills did all my retouching work for me.

I Recently had the chance to do another fixie or fixed gear bike shoot, with a good friend whom I’ve been promising to shoot since well, what seems like forever, we had bad weather and things got shuffled around a little but these are the results…
Cheers to Eric and the guys at Gear Brisbane for hooking us up with yet again some amazing bikes, we didn’t get a scratch on em, I promise. But Eric is a great guy always keen to help out and work on some cool new interesting projects no matter what they involve be it a few bikes or well (I’ll say the rest once I’ve finished working on the projects). You should go into the store if you are close to the Brisbane CBD, or visiting from out of town, its an amazing store and I guarantee you wont find another store like it anywhere in the world and for so many reasons…
So pop into shop @ 3A Browning Street, West End, QLD, 4101, or check out the online store and blog
Thanks to all the girls for putting up with me and the summer heat and lack of fresh air throughout the shoot due to the location, I’m sorry the weather turned and we couldn’t be out in the open. Thanks to Lewis for the million stupid questions you asked that probably extended the shoot to another half an hour, and for dabbing the sweat off of everyone when needed, you are definitely the weirdest most interesting assistant I have ever had on a shoot buddy…
So here are a few shots from the days shoot enjoy while I sort through everything and get it up on my THE BAKE HOUSE @ WORDPRESS and here on the blog, there are many more shoots to edit and upload so keep your eyes peeled enjoy…

I'm just displaying raw NMEA codes for now, so my next step will be to write a parser for the NMEA so I can figure out lat+long.

Why would I make such an appointment?
A modest amount of fame when this twirled photo was selected by AP's Technical Editor for their social media selection this week (issue of 9 May). No fortune, alas.
