I was at Mall of Asia, Manila for the New Year's Eve countdown for 2012.
When the fireworks lighted up the night sky, I made my first wish for the new year.
On the first day of February, this wish is going to become a reality in my life.
Life do bring us surprises.
And I guess I am just so lucky enough to be the lucky one.

One major problem with minilathes -- when making a cut, the tool holder may drift along the x or y axes. Nicer lathes include a locking mechanism to prevent this sort of drift, and so I've added them to my minilathe.
Added a lock screw to the Y-axis.
I drilled and tapped a 5/16-18 hole in just the right place. When I tighten this bolt, it presses against the Y-ways, so that the tool holder will not drift along the Y-axis.

This didnt excatly focus where i wanted..was still getting used to a sigma lens. Nikon makes life easy..I even wanted to focus in the middle but didnt realize where the lens picked up..

A RHINO gave three teenagers the fright of their lives when it charged their car in a safari park.
Driver Mark Freeman,18, from Hog Lane, Ashley Green, was left with a horn shaped crack in his car's wheel after the three-ton female rammed the Vauxhall Corsa.
Mark had gone to Woburn Safari Park, in Bedfordshire, with friends Will Hinkly, 17, of Lye Green Road, Chesham, and Chris Thomas from Amersham on Saturday.
Mark, a student, said: "We were just driving around the park for a second time when we saw the rhino coming down the middle of the road. It seemed to get agitated and was quite jumpy by us driving.
"It walked round the car before shunting us. It lifted the car off the ground. I was really shocked, it happened so quickly. I looked around and saw a park ranger telling us to move on quickly.
"When we went we were just hoping the monkeys might jump on the car a little."
Will, an audio systems salesmen, managed to take a picture of the female white rhino attacking the car. He said: "The rhino just seemed to see red when it saw us. We thought it would have done more damage than it did to the car. The rhino seemed quite cross. Thankfully the ranger started waving his hands for us to move. When we did the rhino left us alone."
Mark has been left with a repair bill of around £500 as the car's wing was damaged but said he is hoping the safari park will pick up the bill.
The safari park said the rhino was moved to an enclosure as it became "agitated" at the sight of the car.

Later, the Rhino apologised for its behaviour. It said that took offence at the cheap wheels trims the owner had fitted. "It was a moment of madness, I should keep my opinions to myself" the Rhino stated. The Safari Park commented that the Rhino was to attend an anger management course.
The last time I was at Oktoberfest was around 1992 so my memory was a bit foggy - a combination of age and beer apparently. We made a day trip from Garmisch to Munich to check it out. We left Garmisch a little after 9 a.m. and the train was packed with a bunch of people drinking already. That is a bit early for wine and Jagrmeister - yuck. We arrived on the grounds and walked around a bit - the place was huge with a theme or amusement park atmosphere. Some of the rides and adventures looked pretty cool. We eventually made our way into some of the beer halls - they hold 5,000 people. It wasn't even noon on a weekday and the halls were already packed. It was definitely a fun experience and I think We will be going back again soon.

With the vacuum cleaner running, push the frame and the hot plastic down onto the mould until the frame seals against the weather stripping -- and BAM, the plastic slams down onto the mould.
Turn off the vacuum and give the plastic a minute to cool.
Hey, this thing works pretty good. I got a couple ideas of stuff to make with it now, like custom model boat hulls, or maybe a storm trooper costume...

Estee Lauder cultivated her love for beauty products and cosmetics at a young age. Her chemist uncle John Schotz taught her how to make her own face creams. By the time she was a teenager, she was selling her own beauty products at local hair salons. She pioneered two types of customer incentives that would eventually become standard beauty industry practice: the free gift and the gift-with-purchase.
Officially launching Estée Lauder in 1946, she and her husband Joseph made the products in the kitchen of a former restaurant. A year later, Saks Fifth Avenue ordered $800 in products. They sold out in two days.
A generous philanthropist, she created The Lauder Foundation in the 1960s. Her simple quotes reveal her life philosophies which translated into the massive commercial success that would span over 7 decades to the present day.
