It's Fall Fungi Friday! (#3 of 3)
I ♥ mushrooms. Raw, steamed, fried, sauteed...it doesn't matter. I could eat 'shrooms every day. Of course, that quickly changes when you hear them referred to as 'fungus'. That kind of does a number on my appetite. And my stomach. Uh-oh...brb.

While walking to the pond this swallowtail fell out of the tree right in front of me. He had just hatched and was trying to climb to a place in the sun to dry his wings! I helped him onto an azalea bush where he stayed for several hours. What a wonderful experience this was!!!!

It's amazing how encased in dew a bug can become overnight. Here, it waits patiently for the sun to release it.

Take a Seat Week is now over! Thanks for sharing in this quick celebration of places where we can relax & put our feet up.
Harley Davidson: As the weather turns warmer, for me there's no better seat in the house (OK, not really in the house--that's just an expression...but you know what I mean).
Happy Easter!

If you turn you head just a bit sideways, push your tongue firmly into your cheek and SQUINT a bit, you can just make out the words "Made In Japan" etched on the carapace.
This is not as sharp as I have expected.. but just can't resist the colors so I decided to post it anyway.
Eucharitid wasps are specialized parasitoids of ants. Larvae develop inside ant nests feeding on ant brood. Adult wasps sometimes form large mating swarms in meadows, where the females oviposit in plant material. Young larvae attach themselves to passing ants, or to ant prey items, to be carried into the ant nest.

This tiny, maybe 1/2 an inch, butterfly was shot with my Canon PowerShot SX1 IS with the Raynox DCR-250 lens attached.

I found several flower shots from August that I never posted, sooooo I'll be uploading them next! I think I took them shortly before we left for Scotland and then forgot about them.
I'm working on visiting everyone's streams tonight - I promise!!
... of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-eight million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea...

Working on refining my technique with this fun form of macro photography.
This is a 20 image stack, each frame shot at f4. Getting the lighting right on this one was tough with so many drops in so many different places. In the end it was worth the work.
Shot using a Tokina AT-X 90mm f2.5 Macro lens and the AT-X 1:1 extender.
I do hope everyone is well...Have a great weekend my friends....=)

"Get Down on It" Week Continues! A 7-day celebration of looking down our noses at our subjects, much like King Henry VIII did.
Buds & Blooms: We can't possibly do a downward POV week without recognizing all of the pretty flowers growing at our feet! From last August--no idea what it is--coneflower maybe?
Update: I called in the heavy horticultural guns for identification, Flickr's resident expert, Bettina (4Buttercup) and she was sweet enough to share her expertise: "Rudbeckia 'Herbstsonne' would be my guess...sometimes assigned the species nitida or lacinata (but has been determined to be a cross between the two)." So there you have it! Thx, B! ;)
