We visited Peter's Dad today at the Central Coast and I decided to take my camera with me. I spotted this beautiful lily in a local garden.
Peter's Dad is 93.5 years old and is suffering Paget's disease in his femur. He was booked in for surgery last week to have the diseased bone (which has a crack in it) removed and replaced with a steel rod, but the anaesthesiest came around on the morning of the surgery to say that he was not happy doing the surgery due to his age and the fact that he has a heart murmur, so the surgery was postponed until a check could be done on his heart. It is terrible to see him trying to walk around in so much pain with the knowledge that the bone could snap at any time. It is such a worry for him and for the family.

I purchased a wireless remote from Ebay and thought I would try it out. It works so well - who would have thought it only cost around $10 with free postage.
When I was wandering around the garden today I spotted this lovely dragonfly hanging off a leaf. I had the wrong lens on the camera and I had to go inside and put on my 180mm macro lens. I was sure it wouldn't be there when I went back, but it was and it stayed there for a few photos.

Not sure what the name of this flower is, but blue and yellow are my favourite colours.

Today I go into hospital for my wrist operation, so this is the last daily photo for the challenge. I will be adding photos daily from now on, but I will be delving into my archives for the photos. I have thousands in my archives, so the only problem will be choosing which flower to upload LOL.

In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flander's fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, tho poppies grow
In Flander's fields.

This is one of the beautiful Camellias that is growing in Peter's father's garden - I love the colour. We came back late this afternoon after spending two days at his Dad's house. Yesterday we brought him around to the house to choose some things that he wants to take into his room at the nursing home - it went pretty well considering that it is a wrench for him to leave his house. Today was spent going through everything and deciding was is to be kept and beginning to clean up the house ready for sale. We are going back up Tuesday to take Bob around to the nursing home from the rehab centre and will be staying for a couple more days to continue clearing up - it is a challenge. It makes me realise that I also have way too much stuff accumulated over the 40 years that I have been in this house LOL.
We did go out for dinner last night for my birthday and had a lovely time, although we were all feeling a little weary. It has been so hot and humid the last two days and even into the night which made cleaning up a bit of a challenge in the heat.
There is a delightful little garden where I live called The Childrens Garden at Linky Stone Park. On a recent outing with my daughter to this magical place tucked under a bridge and beside the Reedy River, we saw this butterfly, self-poised on a coneflower, as if waiting to be noticed.

This is my flower for today - my previous upload was for yesterday as we have been away for a couple of days and had no internet access.

Another photo of one of my favourite flower subjects.
Flower macro lovers living in southern England should all pay a visit to the gardens at Wisley as they have a great greenhouse full of miniture varieties of plants that are just the right size to bring out the best in your macro lens. And as they keep them all in pots, they are able to keep rotating them so there is always something flowering.

These Gazanias are growing in my garden at the moment. I found that I could take some photos with my Olympus E-PM1 camera as it is much lighter than the DSLR
I went to see the surgeon today and he said that the stitches are not ready to come out and I am to see him in two weeks (as he is away until then). That will mean three weeks after surgery and I think the stitches will be firmly in place by then and difficult to come out - I may have to see my GP next week and see what he can do.

I am exhausted tonight - I took two of my granddaughters to visit Featherdale wildlife park today and wandered around amongst the animals for 5 hours in the heat. I took my three grandsons to the movies on Tuesday and the girls wanted to see the animals.
Some photos of a tiny little blue damselfly that I spotted in my neighbour's garden. The second photo is the original colour of the photo and the top photo is what happened when I hit "auto tone" in photoshop. I think I like the brighter colours.

I have been using Internet Explorer as my browser but after taking Brian's advice to try another browser. I have downloaded Mozilla and so far the problems I have been experiencing have not occurred, so it looks like a problem at my end and not Flickr's end. I have been frustrated trying to comment on your photos, but will now catch up tomorrow as it is midnight here and time for bed.

The blue Hydrangea flowers that I posted yesterday are from my garden, but I find them a bit boring. I would love to have some this colour.
Macro photography using a Nikon D70s DSLR camera and an AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D lens. Shot handheld.
another macro shot using a 35mm prime with a screw in 10+ macro filter captured at the Chicago Botanic Garden's greenhouses...by selecting one specific point of focus, in this case, the petal extending down on the left lower frame, you can get just that spot to be sharp and the rest of the comp becomes a soft, creamy, painterly, and colorful canvas of bokeh...hope you guys like this even if it's one from my archives...pls.
