another macro shot using a 35mm prime with a screw in 10+ macro filter captured at the Chicago Botanic Garden's greenhouses...by selecting one specific point of focus, in this case, the petal extending down on the left lower frame, you can get just that spot to be sharp and the rest of the comp becomes a soft, creamy, painterly, and colorful canvas of bokeh...hope you guys like this even if it's one from my archives...pls. I spotted this spider which had caught a fly when I was wandering around my neighbour's garden the other day.

As I mentioned in earlier posts, I have been having a lot of wrist pain for a couple of days. I decided to to begin wearing the splint more often even though the surgeon said that I could possibly leave it off when I am at home and to put it on if I go out and during the night. I have to say that I think I may still need it for a while as the pain has eased a lot whilst I am wearing the splint. I had to visit my GP today and he said that it will take a while to heal and for the bones to knit together.

Another photo of the beautiful pink Hebe with a visitor - I added a Skeletalmess texture on this photo.

White as the snow on the summit around.

This little Hover Fly was hanging around the Grevillea in my neighbour's garden and after uploading the photos I noticed how it is hanging onto the bud and it looks like it is drinking out of a cup.

A bulb from a friend! My garden is called the friendship garden, it has flowers from everywhere!

"Oor Faither’s Hoose Abune

Date: Circa 1920?

Tune: Dinna Quarrel

............

The skies are clear and bonnie o’ this warl’ we’re leevin’ in

As we see the twinklin’ o’ the staurs an’ the glimmer o’ the mune

The sun in a’ its grandeur, as its rays aroon’ us fling

But these are jist the outside lichts o’ oor Faither’s hoose abune

The earth in a’ its beauty, her flooers sic fragraance bring

As we see the hills an’ valleys, in the bonnie sparkling spring

Her trees wi’ spreadin’ branches whaur the birdies shelter in

A’ pint to something grandeur in oor Faither’s hoose abune

Chorus:

I’m pressing on my journey, for a prize we a’ may win

An’ that will be a robe an croon’ in oor Faither’s hoose abune

An’, oh, to think o’ Jesus, wha left His realms abune

An’ cam doon tae this weary warl’ amang sic tents o’ sin

Seekin’ for the lost anes, that He micht bring them in

An’ be a licht to guide us tae oor Faither’s hoose abune

An’ oh, the pain He suffered in dark Gethsemane

Then upon Calv’ry’s mountain, whaur He bled for you an’ me

Doon through the grave He travelled, burst the bars o’ death and sin

But noo He reigns aye King owre a’ in oor Faither’s hoose abune

Sae I’m trustin’ noo in Jesus, an’ I’m sure that I’ll get in.

He has promised tae fetch me tae the mansion that’s abune

I ken that I’m unworthy, but His build has made me clean

Sae I’m waitin’ till He tak’s me tae my Faither’s hoose abune

There I’ll meet the loved ones wha cared sae much for me

An’ see my wee bit bairnies I fondled on my knee

Wi’ robes an’ palms an’ croons o’ gold, the victor’s song we’ll sing

Glory to the Lamb o’ God, in oor Faither’s hoose abune

There there’s neither sin nor sorrow, nae poverty nor pain

But peace an’ joy an’ happiness through eternity shall reign

The hauf I canna tell you – we’ll see when time is dune

But I’m sure it wull be glory in oor Faither’s hoose abune

Sae noo, my freens, mak’ ready; the time is wearin’ in

When daith will come an’ drag ye tae the judgement bar abune

Ah, but Jesus waits tae bless ye noo an’ tak’ awa’ yer sin

An’ bring us a’ in safety tae oor Faither’s hoose abune."

Today was the first day of Spring here in Australia. It still had a Winter chill in the air, but the sun was shining brightly.

The wind was blowing really hard today and as I took his photo it blew him upside down and I swear he was looking at me with this funny look.

Nikon1 V1 Review - Next review on Landscape/Cityscape soon!

For ur ultimate viewing pleasure, just click EASY VIEW OF MY SLIDE SHOW

Here, I take this opportunity to sincerely thanks Singapore's Nikon, appreciate for your special arrangement of kindly sponsoring me such a meaningful set of "black beauty" as gift, The all new Nikon 1 v1, a true unconventional, practical yet user friendly compact interchangeable lens camera (ILC), for allowing me to explore and conduct a personal review on how this little technologies device behave. A new breed series of mix integration from modern compact point n shoot together with the larger advance DSLR's married hybrid products . With a overwhelming, modest "value added ILC" camera in hand, discovering the product core value of pro's and con's on both the positive merits and stretch it negative limitation of demerits is an exciting benchmark to me.

At such, it literally allowing me making free critique, either good or bad statements to determin the product market values on my reader's eye for consumer benefit is my great pleasure with honour....At any professional level, especially letting a die-hard Canon lover's, individually stand on his experienced background, without prejudice to commission for a sensible critiques, I shall hands on the little machine with a non attaché heart react accordingly. This will be a fair, no biase easy understanding individual's brief review.

At a good careful grip, this camera is somehow handy depend on your gender. For me, first encounter searching for fingers placements may be a little awkward keeping position for camera balance but definetely not a problem with my wife n my 15 yrs old daughter. For such a decent compact weight camera, The sturdy physical of Nikon 1 v1 virtually give a feeling of confident, It probably can reward consumers with some value years of reasonable worried free usage. I generally see this interchangeable kind of camera will eventually, seriously affect some femal girls trend changing standard, shifting behaviour of wanting what all future compact camera be size like, thus agitate new threat igniting fierce competition with the current line up of bigger heavier sublime entry level DSLR's camera.

This is my prelimery practical hands-on brieft review. Althought I'm a dedicated Canon users with years of satisfaction. This Nikon V1 display no less but pack with many positive remarks of praise, it operate quietly n some buttons quickly allow me access to functionality with ease of reach, a easy understanding manoeuvres to important features.

In general, I set this as a pre-requisite standard requirement far above many current good point n shoot camera as it'll cater to pamper users with higher, good option of selection, this include superb image quality, variety interchangeable lens, a live view electonic finder, wide range of iso n the modern compact size n weight etc ....you hardly find fault or feel wrong of refusing it. It also far surpass my normal expectation after few hour of careful play beside delivering substantial quality image from a mere 10.1 mega pixel compact camera, a distintive class of it own setting away from point n shoot can hardly get close.

The rigid physical body will enable normal daily usage to withstand good years either indoors or outdoor. Image colours are brilliantly display at no-nonsence level comparable to a good DSLR on both real world at it rear 3 inch vivid large screen, with the additional of magical electronic viewfinder, photographers can have good choice of viewing, of course is best viewing at own computers larger monitor display..

I particularly find the accurate meter reading reliable, really enjoy the effortless swift focusing for targeting easy subject range from near to far. I find reliefs of getting 4 out of 5 tack sharp image. So far so good with limited complaints to blame on a camera like this. As for those with good fundermental photography knowledge, fully utilise those essential build in setting will get you more rewarding shots for sure. As for a complete new comer's and ametuers photographers, It will deliver sheer confident capturing satisfactory photography at ease.

For the wide range of decent ISO, I feel enjoyable seeing usable low noise for landscape especially fix at ISO100 to 400 respectively, it always produce quality clean sharp image with a tripod. Other than that, I simply do not fancy any ISO set above the limit range for my personal preference despite a selection of higher available ISO. Many macro lovers will love the agility of such compact size n weight with enhance speed to succusfully capture substantial small insect or flowers etc.... Of course is always good to consult the included relevant manual book or learn the basic theory of "how n why" to appropriately chose n use of the available quick mode like shutter speed, aperture n ISO combination for better acquire technique.

A phenonminent impressive camera of it class. Nikon 1v1 deserve a good rate of 7.5 out of 10 for summarising after all the pros n cons count. Price clearly on the higher side n no build in flash may take away credits for some experience careful buyer. The expeed 3 processor may not stand out as fast as it promise with a second lag or delay found on my camera. The Black casing body easily absorb heat In Singapore so just be mindful when you place around ur eyes using the view finder in the hot summer.

My daughter found this bug while we were working in the yard today. I have no idea what type it is but I LOVE the color! :)

Thank you very much to Dougeee. He identified this pretty bug for me and I now know it is called a Green Immigrant Leaf Weevil, or Polydrusus sericeus.

I halfway through my 365 day challenge. This is a Gaillardia plant that I rescued from a local nursery - they were going to throw it out and it was given to me. Peter cut it back put it into the garden along with an Everlasting Daisy which is also flowering at the moment. It is a different colour to the other Gaillardia flowers that I have seen which are red and yellow.

Autumn is coming on and the Monarchs have gone and the Cosmos are getting scraggly.

Been a great summer though.

I could lose myself in this bougainvillea...

Don't know what they are but these flowers were growing between the sunflowers.
