These little flowers are growing in my neighbours garden - we call them Heartsies, but I am not sure if they have another name. They are like miniature pansies.
My brother is watching something on TV, so I thought I would pop in and see what is happening.

I took my three grandsons to the movies today to see The Hobbit - it was very good if you like fantasy type movies (which I do). They are having a sleepover tonight and tomorrow they are going to stay with my daughter for two nights, and my two granddaughters are coming to stay with me. It is like musical beds in my house LOL.
I couldn't resist the color of this Morning Glory or the scattering of pollen. Behind water and DNA, I think that pollen may be the most important foundation of life on our planet, and it fascinates me to see it. Seen while fishing along the D&R Canal in Lambertville, New Jersey. Visit this great state park at www.dandrcanal.com.

I was wanderging around my neighbour's garden when this strange insect landed. It looks a little like a hover fly, but the eye is something that I haven't seen before. These are full frame photos and not cropped. The last photo shows that the fly is the size of a hover fly but a bit more chunky. Thank you Darrel for your ID.

Tomorrow I go in for more surgery to remove the plate and screws from my wrist as the surgeon feels that they are causing irritation and pain. I found Flickr my saviour during my recovery after the last operation so I will be here checking out your wonderful photos, but unable to leave comments (unless I type one finger which is so slow.
There have been quite a few of these moths flying around our garden lately, but this one stayed still for a few photos. These are SOOC, hand held and taken with my Canon 180mm 3.5 L series macro lens.

After a hot day yesterday (although not as hot as predicted), we have had an overcast, cooler day today. We even had thunderstorms and rain this afternoon.

Almost 1/3rd of the way there LOL.
I found these photos that I took a while back in the archives . I had forgotten about them as I had uploaded them into the wrong folder - what a surprise!! These are not crops, hand held and were taken with my Canon 50D camera and the 180 mm 3.5 L series macro lens.

We have been busy travelling backwards and forwards to the Central Coast - I promise I will catch up properly tonight.
Some more from the archives. I saw the doctor today and he is sending me to see a hand surgeon - just a simple operation apparently. I can't say the same for his injury - ankle broken in four places which had to be pinned. He slipped on some mud when opening his pool gate - shows how easily serious damage can be done.
I was at the park the other day with a Flickr friend so she could try out my Canon 70-200 2.8 L series lens and the Canon 100-400 L series lens so she could decide which lens she wants to buy. She has decided on becoming the owner of the 70-200 I think. I spotted this bug on some yellow flowers growing near the creek - I think it is a Shield Bug.
I was in the garden today with my daughter and granddaughter when we spotted this tiny bug crawling along a leaf. My granddaughter spotted a perfect green heart on it's back, something I have never seen before.
Thank you Annie fot the title.
A Lady Bug on a Thistle at the Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, just south of New Hope, Pennsylvania. In Picasa I just turned the color temperature all the way down, but the "lady" stayed red, and I liked the effect. For more information on this great sanctuary, visit www.bhwp.org.

This is a Ribbon Bush that is growing wild in my garden - it seems to pop up all over the place (and yes, another bee LOL).
We took Peter's Dad out for lunch today and he is settling in to the nursing home well, in fact, I think he is more worried now that his house won't sell and he won't be able to stay there.
I found these in the archives and since I can't go out with the camera, these are the next best thing.
I have an appointment to see the surgeon again on Thursday - fingers crossed that the tests will explain the pain that I have been suffering for nearly 12 months.
Hi all !
Just a quick word to say that, since I have no job and little to no money, I am making these setups for all those Macro lovers out there by hand to sell at a cheap and affordable price.
Over the past few months, many many people have contacted me asking me about setups and how to build one. So.. if you don't fancy building one then contact me via Flickr or my facebook and you can buy one from me over the next few weeks !
Facebook - www.facebook.com/
This is what they will all consist of :
Rail, motor, Laminate board.. all securely attached with Helping hands and pins also included.
Each Half rotation moves the rail ~0.001mm-0.005mm so anything from 1-40x will work fine on this setup.
Cheers !

I have been going through my 2009 photos looking for a photo of my granddaughter's 8th birthday (couldn't find one - don't you hate it when that happens), but I came across this lovely grevillea and bee photo and decided to post it for today's photo.

I was feeling weary list night after our hectic couple days so I didn't spend time on Flickr - I will catch up with you all this evening.
Happy Easter to all my Flickr friends
I am running a bit late this evening, so I have decided to add some photos of a wasp that I saw in my garden the other week. For some reason, it reminds me of Batman LOL.

My brother is down for the holidays, so my time will be limited (as I expect everyone will be over the holidays). I will be popping in though.

Another from my archives. I love this colour Gaillardia but they haven't come up in my neighbour's garden for a couple of years - I must try and find one for my garden.
It has been a beautiful Winter's day here in Sydney today - the sun was out and the temperature reached 22 C. I wandered around to my neighbour's garden and was excited when I spotted this damselfly doing exercises in the sun. I also found my neighbour sitting enjoying the sunshine.

I think it is a wasp of some type on my Pansy in the wheelbarrow garden

Another cooler but sunny day here in Sydney today, so I wandered around to my neighbour's garden to see if there was any action. There were so many bees (and even a Skipper butterfly) hanging around the Bird of Paradise bush.
One month down, eleven to go, LOL.
I am still doing okay. I have some pain, but not as much as I expected. As long as I keep my arm in the sling and not move it too much, the pain is manageable.
These are some more photos of the same Damselfly that I have already uploaded, but once again taken from another angle. In the second photo it actually turned it's head and looked at the camera.
This is the Hydrangea that is growing in my garden. It doesn't really do well and I think it might be in a part of the yard that doesn't get much sun.
We are at Forster for a few days. It is my baby brother's 60th birthday today and we have just come back after having a lovely Chinese celebration dinner. Happy Birthday Patrick.
One of my Flickr friend's daughter has gone missing. Could you share this link on your photos to spread the word. It is a parent's worst nightmare.
I took this photo during a visit to Peter and Sally in Northumberland in 2011. I have no idea what the flower is, but I love the shape. Thanks for the ID Ashley - Globe thistles - Echinops.
I went for a follow up visit to the surgeon today and he said that the sharp, shooting pains that I have been experiencing are due to the plate and screws. He said that they probably need to come out and has booked me in for surgery on the 20th March - I was hoping that they would cause no problems and could stay there forever. I could have gone in next week, but Peter is booked in for his followup surgery on Friday - we are keeping the hospitals in business, aren't we? I hope that this will be the end of both our problems.
