I am so late coming in to Flickr tonight (a busy day) so I won't be able to add comments tonight. I am adding another flower from my neighbour's garden that I took yesterday and I will catch up with everyone in the morning.

This is one that I found in the archives and ran an action called Earthy tones by LustDrunk Technicolor.

Daucus carota:

Daucus carota (common names include wild carrot, (UK) bird's nest, bishop's lace, and (US) Queen Anne's lace) is a flowering plant in the family Apiaceae, native to temperate regions of Europe, southwest Asia and naturalised to northeast North America and Australia; domesticated carrots are cultivars of a subspecies, Daucus carota subsp. sativus.

Daucus carota is a variable biennial plant, usually growing up to 1 m tall and flowering from June to August. The umbels are claret-coloured or pale pink before they open, then bright white and rounded when in full flower, measuring 3–7 cm wide with a festoon of bracts beneath; finally, as they turn to seed, they contract and become concave like a bird's nest. The dried umbels detach from the plant, becoming tumbleweeds.[1]

Very similar in appearance to the deadly poison hemlock, Daucus carota is distinguished by a mix of bi-pinnate and tri-pinnate leaves, fine hairs on its stems and leaves, a root that smells like carrots, and occasionally a single dark red flower in its center.

Have a lovely Thursday and thanks for the visit.

This is one of my first attempts with my Canon 180 mm 3.5 L macro lens. I will have to try it out one day with my Kenko tubes, but we are having so much rain the last few days that I haven't had a chance to wander around the garden. The garden will love all the rainwater I am sure.

My little granddaughter is now home and we are waiting on results of tests. In herself, she is feeling fine. Thank you all for your concern.

Protea.

It's still fairly gray outdoors...

It has been chaos around here with the replacement of the kitchen and the laying of new floor boards, but I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. We have most of the furniture in place and now only have to unpack all the boxes. The new flooring looks wonderful - I will try and take some photos in the morning when it is better light.

I have visitors today so I have added one from the archives. I occasionally see these bees in my neighbour's garden, but they are tiny and very fast

On Saturday (after I dropped my lens on the floor), I wandered around my neighbour's garden with a heavy heart, but as you can see from these photos, the lens was not damaged in any way. These photos are hand held and SOOC only resized in Photoshop.

I am now without my camera again for a few weeks as I have sent it away with a Sigma 70-200 2.8 lens that I bought in Hong Kong on our way home from our trip. I have had nothing but trouble with the lens and it is in again for testing for the fifth time. I hope that they can finally find out what the problem is with the AF function.

Barton is only around 7 miles from Stratford Upon Avon and while we were staying in the little cottage (see yesterday's upload), I went to visit the Butterfly Farm at Stratford Upon Avon. There were so many beautiful butterflies flying around and I wasn't the only photographer chasing them around the enclosure for photos LOL. I have tried to find out the name and I have come up with Common Rose (Pachliopta aristolochiae. Hopefully someone will be able to confirm.

I picked up my new computer yesterday evening and now comes the hard part - downloading all the programmes.

I am having a bad day today with my wrist/thumb and as I can't get in to see the specialist until the 15th May, I imagine that things will not improve for a while. Lucky I have lots of photos in my archives and am getting better at one finger typing LOL.

These are some more photos from my visit to my neighbour's garden on Sunday. I visited again yesterday, but the cold weather has made most of the insects disappear for the Winter.

yes this is all done in Photo shop

This is a beautiful Grevillea that is growing in my garden.

I have a much needed day off, so was able to explore our garden and enjoy some of the tulips that are flowering. Hope you enjoy your day, and thanks for visiting:)

Delving through my archives again - this is another variety of Grevillea that grows in my neighbour's garden.

The weather is finally beginning to cool down here - supposed to get down to 9C tonight, but quite windy, so seems even colder. It will soon be time to put the heaters on.

It has been another cold day today, so it is into the archives again. These were taken a while back when the weather was warmer and there were more insects around. I haven't had much time for Flickr today as I thought I had better begin preparing my applique squares that I like to take with me when travelling. I love applique, but the preparation can be so fiddly and time consuming, although the finished product is well worth the effort.

I still can't pick up the camera, so I am still adding photos from my archives. These were taken during my visit the the Hunter Valley Gardens at Cessnock - a fabulous place to visit.

I was wandering around the garden the other day and as I came around the corner, I spotted this wasp on a bush. I tried to get in nearer for some closeups, but he was watching me intently and looked like he was about to attack, so I beat a hasty retreat. Bees don't bother me, but wasps sometimes sting without provocation - and a camera in it's face seems like provocation to me LOL. I have googled and have come up with Digger Wasp (Sphex cognatus), maybe someone can confirm this for me.

It is my middle child's 40th birthday today and we are going to a "bling" party at their new house.

Happy Birthday Danielle!!

Today was another day when it was warmer outside than inside the house, so I wandered around the garden. It is pretty boring these days due to the cold weather, but I did spy a tiny grasshopper on the African Daisies.

My hand is a bit sore today. I have found I have a couple of good days and then a couple of bad days to bring me down to earth LOL. I am still trying to take it easy, but it is so boring. Thanks to Brian @ Bury St Edmunds (UK) I now have an ID - "Peruvian Lily".
