On December 23, 2014, I donated my Mac Pro 1.1 I got in April, 2007, so it may be help someone else express their creativity and productivity.
This Mac assisted me throughout college as well as writing OpenZoom. Farewell, my friend.

We're still finishing up some desk re-arragement here at the office, so for now the video station (the Mac Pro - designTwo) will be on this corner... Basically we're not using it as much now and we can use Screen Sharing/VNC for now!
It's hard to fit a chair there... :| eeek

Editing from home in the middle of a Covid-19 lockdown.
OK, it's a little untidy - but it works a treat. Two computers; a MacPro Tower with 12TB of internal storage and more RAM than you could shake a stick at ... combined with a PC. All designed for virtual editing.
This may be the norm now - but in December 2020 I was a pioneer. There was no industry infrastructure in place. I was one of the very first with this homemade lash up.
The output from the Mac running Avid Media Composer is integrated into the PC running a Zoom meeting - using tech for streaming real-time games on YouTube.
The system comfortably handles five streams of unrendered DNxHD185x
On the far left hand screen is Director - Richard Boden (famous for Black Adder Goes Forth and 2point4 Children) watching the Avid playback, fullscreen, in real time .... from his home in south-west London. The same feed that I see on the monitor far right (featuring actress Gemma Whelan).
Bottom line: Realtime editing with (because of Covid restrictions) no physical interaction.
Points of interest from l to r: Far left my Nikon Coolpix P7700, ten years old and literally falling apart - but still capable of taking great photographs ... Next to a simple but effective £55 anologue audio mixer (for mixing sound into the Zoom meeting) and the volume control for Avid/PC sound monitoring and a card reader plugged into a USB 4-way hub. Ignore the hayfever medication next to the clock that is a Google Assistant and the numerous external storage devices. Finally, there's a multimeter for ... I'm not sure what.
To use an old BBC adage ... "it can make tea, coffee, orange juice, prune juice ..."

This is day 1 of our short holiday in Wales, Monday 21 September 2015
Jim signed me up for an online course to learn to write a book. My homework is to BEGIN writing. So, I've started. One step at a time.
Before I started writing this morning, Jim and I watched the movie, "Date Night." It was funny and scary at times.
Update on my healthy eating, weight-loss, and de-cluttering: I've lost 6 pounds in about 2 weeks. I took some VCR tapes and gave them to my former school. I gave some clothes to a fellow teacher. I took 12 items of clothing to Goodwill. It's a start!
Note: Including all the instructions about the assignment, I typed about 2000 words during the day.
My desk is usually a mess, but post-earthquake, this is something else.
All the Hard-drives and everything on the top shelf fell on me/my desk. There's holes in the wood where some of them landed.
The flanking LCDs also shook off and I had to hold them up... usually they're in a nice pretty line... and I have a clear area in the middle.

*Rumor has it that the next update will also make espresso, for those long nights at the studio.
