I will be leaving Salinas in 3 weeks, after teaching ESL here for 3 years. The experience, like most, had it's ups and downs. The ups included the learning and intimacy of the ESL classroom, a feeling of openness and space as I drove through the agricultural fields. The downs included the intense exposure the community (and especially the farmworkers) receives from chemical pesticides and fertilizers. There is a cancer "cluster" in Salinas, a fact born out by the many stories I have heard from men and women who work the fields, of personal bouts with the disease, premature birth, deformations, and a constant fear of exposure.
Please stop buying conventionally grown vegetables and fruits, especially strawberries, artichokes, raspberries, and lettuce. Just because you don't see what they spray on it, or feel your lungs burn and your lips grow numb as the chemicals are released into our Salinas air, doesn't mean you are free of the effects, or of responsibility for creating this hidden nightmare. For God's sake, BUY ORGANIC.

That's it. It's about the size of a football. I don't adjust the pressure, I took a sleep study and the docs determined what pressure keeps the back of my throat from collapsing. It's adjustable for altitude and ramping. Ramping starts the pressure low and I can set it to increase over time (4-45 minutes) and reaches the max. Attached at the bottom is an adjustable humidifier that keeps the air I breath all night moist so I don't wake up with cotton mouth.
It's obviously not as good as a cafe or a boulangerie, but this convenient machine does dispense caffeine. You see these at all big train stations (and some Metro stations) throughout Europe
Freyja Godfrey wanted to show Upton Zero how Muggle Washing Machine work. So with some creative magic and wit, they created this stirring engorged cauldron. That is what I call creatively applying magic to demonstrate muggle concepts. Well done.

Hand sculpted foam core covered in a variety of up-cycled upholstery fabrics (sourced from leftover samples from interior decorators that were headed for the trash). Clock hands serve as sewing needles, metal bobbins, a necklace chain, and the mechanics of a wind up duck make up the inner workings inside the panel, and a pressure gauge accompanies some bobbins and doodads at the top. The side wheel is a faucet spigot.
Measures 13"x9.5"x6.5", and is the same size as a standard sewing machine.
