What an extraordinary object. It was gigantic, the photo doesn't do it justice. Pink??? Way back in my childhood memories I have a very vague feeling I've seen something like this actually out in the fields. A bit more modern but not much. We lived next to a bunch of farmland from when I was five.
Thought I'd have a go at a HDR shot of a mine machine I saw in Cripple Creek, Colorado. I have no idea what this bit of equipment did, but I thought the yellow looked kind of cool against the drab field.
I am such an old lady. Haha. Here's Giles, wondering why I'm paying more attention to the hunk of metal than his cute self.
This looks like a B/W with selective color but is not. I added a B/W layer and changed the blend mode to multiply and this is the result. Kind of liked it so kept it as is
La Machine on the Saturday. The morning turned out to be a little disappointing. A few thousand people turned out to hear some music. La Princesse didn’t do anything but sit there in the fake snow. Nice to look at but a shame for those people. Later she did wake up and went for a walk around town. I originally planned to be in the crowd but I came out the station on Water St and the crowd was insane. I didn’t like the idea of battling through to get a few quick photos so I was able to get on top of the town hall. From there the view of the crowd was simply insane.
That was lucky to get that gunfire coming out of the machine gun!
This is one of about ten shots with the shutter held down hoping I would get something like this.

The last generation of vending machines for the "Sonntagsblick", a Sunday newspaper, is disappearing. There are about 1500 of them in Switzerland. It all started in 1969 with machines in the shape of an astronaut’s helmet. It was the year of the moon landing. But these prototypes didn't work properly. The vending machines were created as a reaction to the then restrictive regulations regarding Sunday working hours and shop opening hours. The current price is CHF 5.20. The boxes will be filled for the last time on July 28, 2024. Then they are removed. Switzerland, June 16, 2024.
