Docker Viaduct, 27/07/22

This is certainly a contender for luckiest shot of the year so far. Despite leaving Lancaster under blue skies, the cloud quickly built and whilst waiting for the train the sun seemed to come out everywhere except for the viaduct. With a dark cloud looming next to the sun it wasn't looking promising however a lucky patch of light landed just as we heard the train around the corner. Phew!

6E01 Wolverhampton - Immingham passes the Lea Marston Purification Lakes and Kingsbury Junction, in a lucky patch of sun. According to the information boards, pollution in the Tame as it emerged from Birmingham used to affect downstream to Nottingham, so the river was diverted into a series of lakes, old gravel workings, and slowing down the water flow allows silt to settle (the top lake is dredged from time to time, I think) and the water generally to become cleaner.
