"Luck"

I've been here countless times, most times the sun doesn't break through the clouds, than once in a while you get lucky. That morning I had "luck" on my side. I shot this at Santa Cruz, Natural Bridges State Park

Shelter in Place, San Francisco, March 12, 2021

As luck would have it, I fertilized the soil around the ferns and palm tree just before the rains. Three days later as the sun emerged, I found a miniature forest of toadstools hiding in the shadows right where I had been working. Clover, too, had cropped up overnight — not the four-leaf kind but serendipitous enough to feel like luck had landed at my feet.

We need all the luck we can get these days, and good sense, too. Hearing the president say last night that everyone can be vaccinated by May made my heart soar - but that success depends on everyone taking the jab when they can get it, and following good practices until we’re all out of the woods. What’s that saying? ‘Without hard work there’d be no luck at all.’ It’s hard to keep doing what we need to do to get us to the end, but I’m going to keep my fingers crossed - maybe, with luck and good neighbors, I’ll be able to see my kids and grandkids this summer, if we can all just hang in there to the end.

Good luck getting clear skies in any of the major Mexican cities. Truthfully it does make a nice prop filtering sunrise and sunsets into some spectacular shades.

Regardless I was happy to walk up the one pedestrian overpass over FXE's yard in Guadalajara and witness a southbound headlight headed for my location.

Luck Be A Lady Tonight- Frank Sinatra

Lady luck was with me last night at the Super Bowl party. My pool numbers were 4 and 4 and the score at half time was 14-14 and the score at the end of the third quarter was 24-14 so I won twice!! Seattle had a lucky catch and seemed to of had the game won but as lady luck would have it, she changed her mind and went over to the Patriot's side for a lucky interception with 19 seconds left!!! Thank you Lady Luck...;)

Well, when you drive by Shiprock roughly 500 times a year as I do, then you're bound to get lucky once in a while.

And when you always carry a camera as I do, then you're bound to hit a pot of gold!

DDC "Good Luck"

I always consider a day when we get out at sunrise to be good luck. But, I was wrong on this day. I hurt my spine quite badly on this day, and I might need surgery. I have fallen hopelessly behind on everything since then. I wish it had been good luck.

After 20+ hours of driving from Michigan to Montana, myself and fellow photographer Michael Nowakowski finally made it to Montana. Rather than go to our hotel in Missoula immediately, we made stops in Billings and Laurel. While in Laurel, we lucked into a departing Laurel - Missoula mixed freight in great light. We gave chase, stopping in various spots along the way. Our last spot we "wanted" to get for the day was from atop Bozeman Tunnel. we got to the spot, and waited for the train to cut on its helpers and arrive. The delay was much longer than anticipated and while waiting, clouds started rolling it, the word "discouraged" doesn't describe my feelings well enough. However, in a moment of luck that is usually only found in sports movies, an opening of about 5 minutes came from the clouds, and like the convenient plot twist, the train popped around the corner into sight, and into the brief moment of sunlight that warmed the whole valley again just as the train was ready to enter the tunnel.

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.

Life is beauty, admire it.

Life is a dream, realize it.

Life is a challenge, meet it.

Life is a duty, complete it.

Life is a game, play it.

Life is a promise, fulfill it.

Life is sorrow, overcome it.

Life is a song, sing it.

Life is a struggle, accept it.

Life is a tragedy, confront it.

Life is an adventure, dare it.

Life is luck, make it.

Life is too precious, do not destroy it.

Life is life, fight for it.

Luck isn't granted

To a selective lucky few

There's enough to go around

Enough for me and you

You must first believe

You deserve the very best

Believe that you are worthy

Believe that you are blessed

Then with eyes wide open

And a mind clear of view

Luck will reveal itself

For me, and them and you

This wishing well had a double dose of good luck for good measure.

I've been waiting all winter for these guys to return to attack the Mountain Ash in the backyard of this neighbour. They had taken all the fruit from a tree only four houses away when I first saw them, and the owner had told me that they usually return in February to finish the area. The day before we had chatted and commented that they had not been back yet (although I had seen them along the Mission Creek Greenway several times, but always far above me, unphotographable. So, when, late in the afternoon, a combination of factors, which at the time had felt like bad luck, conspired with the good fortune of taking a walk with my wife, I stumbled across the flock almost in my back yard, and unexpected late afternoon sunlight, I sprang into action and satisfied one of my main goals of the season.... Lots of unpublishables of course, but these made the series cut—some of greater quality than others, but each with some element that means something to me....

How lucky I am. Not only to share a life with a photographer, but to share it with her..

with luck i will post some new photos this weekend, they might be a bit wind swept if In go out.

Been a long week at work but i am off next week yay.

Day 49

We come here every week night. Hopefully not for long! Good luck Cody!!!

Rest-day for me today.

A possible 6 trains on the cards in a busy itinerary and the day started well with the sun out and a forecast of much more to come.

Met up with Steve Brykajlo at Parton and we headed for the first target, the 08.42 CAR - BIF.

The diagrams had worked out perfectly today with 37401 up front for this and we see it head 2C40 around the cliffs at Micklam just seconds before some threatening cloud moved in for the kill.

Thank you for being awesome:-)

Is it bad luck to have the BBQ (where you’re going to be cooking your Thanksgiving bird) parked underneath the metal ladder you were using to clean the gutters?

I sure hope not!

Maybe Hubby should rethink that arrangement.

I couldn't believe my luck when we discovered this chair during our walk on the beach this morning. The dull cloudy day made it seem even more broken.

Hello flickr! Seems I say that every time I come back. I have no idea why I leave for so long each time. Oddly though, my shooting to posting rate is an inverse relationship. I have so many pictures stored up that I hardly know what to do with them. It was nice to come back and some of the work that others are doing around here, particularly folks like Lance, Jim D., Troy Pavia, and a number of others. Oh and that Clayton guy who never stops hounding me.

My wife was gifted these sometime ago and was told that they will bring her good luck! Just keep touching them, babe!!

This sighting in Bardia a few weeks ago, well, I can't really explain but I just had a really good feeling about it. I've been fortunate enough to have had many magical sightings/encounters with wildlife over the years, this elephant for some reason I just feel was a symbol of good luck, of hope...

To celebrate we're now sellimg Good Luck Elephants at www.wildtiger.org/jaibaghshop to help protect tiger, wildlife, habitat, people...

My dad, a week after he got out of the hospital for cancer surgery. He wasn't much for walking around, but whenever he went into the yard, he always seemed to find four-leaf clovers. He came up with four within four days.
