It had rained the whole day like from tubs. Actually, I planned, the Neist Point, the small peninsula
to take photos on the Scottish island Skye in the southwest in the sundown. But the weather meant it differently.
When I wanted to make a few test shots Late afternoon, it heard to rain for one moment on and the sky opened
for a short time before the coast. From approx. 100 admissions, were at the end only useful.....
Luck prevailed on this shot. I actually had stopped the car to take another shot, when I spotted this find. Oh lucky Friday!

Milky Way Night, Florida Keys.
Careful planning and some luck payed off here as I was watching the weather all week for clear skies and had scouted this location earlier in the week. I have seen virtually zero photos of the Milky Way in the Florida Keys but between islands the light pollution is low and I thought this dead tree would make a neat foreground. This early in the year the Core also rises in the very early hours before dawn so I was walking along these tide pools at 3am to set up for this shot. I was annoyed that a tanker truck decided to park near me on the roadside at this beach, but his lights ended up lighting the foreground for me! So happy to have my first Milky Way images this year from a new location.
Every day is a new day. It is better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact. Then when luck comes you are ready.

I caught a peek at a beautiful white-tailed deer as we toured Wildlife Drive at the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, June 28, 2023. Lady luck was with me as this deer was going along a canal with high grasses, but stopped at this gap long enough for me to zoom in and catch it from my vehicle. Thank-you, Canon!

What a stunning, almost unbelievable, sight!!
Every year, the 2 blocks of Cambridge St between Slocan and Kamloops St burst into a dazzling red archway. This year, it was discovered by the Asian community and they have flocked in to have their pictures taken for good luck. And it has been a spectacular year especially because it has been so dry and sunny. Enjoy your virtual "walk" through the "Cambridge Maple Arch" in E. Vancouver, BC. :)

The ladybug / ladybird is considered lucky in many countries.
A ladybug will bring you good luck if one lands on you.
Let the ladybug go and watch which way she flies and that is the way your answer lays.
Folklore says if you find a ladybug in your home, count the number of spots on her back and that is how many dollars you will find.
Killing a ladybug will bring you sadness and misfortune.
Many farmers consider ladybugs lucky because the eat some of the bad insects that spoil crops.
A ladybug is good luck if they land on your hand on a Sunday and you can count to 22 before she flies away.
At least that's what is claimed in the Netherlands. I don't know if it's true, but what I do know is that I wish all my friends here a very happy and merry Christmas. Stay safe!

We sat by the Evansdale bridge on the curve here to watch the train pass by under dark clouds.
But as the train rumbled into earshot, a patch of sun scudded down the hills towards us.... Worth a chance since we had come all this way.
Got the drone fired up and airbourne as the train passed, flew out in speedy-mode, turned and clicked. Luck of the gods.

At the local light festival, there was a large dragon to walk through. Legend says if you walk through, you will have good luck. These fish guard the dragon. We were able to walk the festival from dusk to full darkness. It was a great way to play with light and enjoy bright colors!
Lotte loves to get cozy in my bed. However, there always have to be cuddly pillows and blankets with her.

I've always had good luck when it comes to light at Badlands National Park. This morning I remember driving into the park about an hour before sunrise and trying several different locations before settling at the yellow mounds area. This is actually looking west but the clouds looked really nice, framing the distant hills along with the natural pastel colors of the foreground mounds.

I've always wanted to use this collector coin for an MM theme, and the "Superstition" theme gave me another opportunity. My dad used to give me special edition coins for collecting, usually 5 or 10 Deutsche Mark (DM) pieces that were (and still are, but now as Euro, of course) issued for special anniversaries or in honour of important personalities. This is one of the coins. I'm keeping it in my wallet as a good luck charm, and whenever I change the wallet, the coin comes along.
There is nothing superstitious about the theme of the coin itself: a 10 DM silver (werewolves, anyone?) coin, issued for the 150th anniversary of the now worldwide operating Kolpingwerk, a Catholic Charity founded by Adolph Kolping (Kolping was a German shoemaker and later a clergyman who had originally initiated it in the mid-1800s as a journeyman union to improve the working conditions of apprentices), but the mere fact that it's a good luck charm makes it an ideal candidate for "Superstition", and there is also a quite funny story connected to it.
Ages ago, when I visited a street party with friends, we went to a shop to buy some water bottles (ever since, I've long come to always bring a home-filled bottle along to spare me the hassle of buying on the go), and I didn't have any coins in my purse other than this 10 DM coin. I hesitated to use it, but then thought, "Come on, don't be superstitious, it's time to let go", so I paid for my bottle of water with it. And instantly regretted it, but again thought, "don't be silly, it's just a coin". Of course, I kept vigorously discussing it in my mind ("No, it's not just a coin, it's extra special"), and after we had been walking for a while, I decided to ask my friends to lend me some money, ran to the shop, felt even sillier than before, but what matters is: I got the coin back ;)
To emphasise the illusion of superstitions, I placed the coin on the "warped" mirror tile (fixated with modelling clay) and focused mainly on the distorted reflection. In the coin's design, there is also a triangle: a symbol that is not only perceived as holy but is also connected to the secret society of the Illuminati, about which myths and conspiracy theories persist to this day; so I tried to highlight it.
