In a lucky patch of sun 37403 passes Omrsgill with 2c41 Barrow-Carlisle. Taken on the bridge in the background of the other shot. Was surprised to see this out on the coast today after having spent the past week working down south in partnership with 'Caroline'...it should've been 37401.
Was out and about in the yard and as I was scoping the flower buds getting ready for opening. I happened upon a bunch of field daisies in various stages. Started focusing on the tiny white petals hiding the yellow centers. Since I am not a fan of flash and the light was low I was carefully trying to get the area in focus that I wanted to shoot and amid admiring the lacey edges at the base of the petals, a spider mite appeared when I clicked the shutter. What luck! I have tried to capture these teeny and super quick arachnids before to no avail and here by chance one scoots in front of the lens. Not in perfect focus, but a great little pop of color and my submission for this week's theme : LUCK

52 Weeks: 2025 Edition: Week 24: Luck
There is no photo manipulation in this shot. I took this shot while cruising down the South Branch of the Chicago River. The building with all the windows was the focus point and the reflections are from the other side of the river. When I went to process this shot, I realized that there was another building in the background that closely mimiced the building in the reflection as to width and lining up with the building reflection. Dumb luck I say :-)
Photographing waders in flight is a challenge, but doing it while doing turns and pirouettes is almost a matter of luck.
Black bellied plover (Pluvialis squatarola) turning in flight without losing sight of me.
It's interesting what appears in long exposures that is completely ordinary with the naked eye....
More coolness with an LED hula hoop (and a circus performer to wield it)

3rd time trying to shoot something decent, such as a nonexistant sunset, at Elgol, Isle of Skye, Scotland. Strike three, and I'm out. I never seem to have any luck at this spot with the weather, either too many or not enough clouds. I guess I haven't uploaded strike two yet, it's coming. This remote spot is reached by the busiest and narrowest f'ing road I've ever driven along, I'm guessing there are 4 cars for every house along the road, and then..... there's the dreaded bus, pray you don't meet it along the way.
This shot was pure luck! The light was fading and I was leaving the area. This Short-eared Owl landed on a post just as I was passing. Only a few quick shots and he was gone. What a beautiful sight to see. Taken at Frank Lake, Alberta.
Thank you for your visit and comments.
Two big games for Englands national sport teams today, not that i follow rugby but if we beat France then we go into the final of the world cup and we need to win the football to stay in with a chance to qualify for Euro 2008.
Good Luck ENGLAND!!!
EDIT- Both teams win yey!

Was surprised to see the pattern when using the 12mm and 20mm together for a super close-up !
Happy Macro Monday !
Clearly a railroad about out of time, this eastbound Dead Freight looks its name, a motley collection of low-priority loads but mostly empties pulled by a clapped-out collection of oil-leaking, smoke-belching locomotives years past their prime. On November 10, 1979, this 85-car train passes the salvaged siding of Corfu, west of Othello, Washington, behind U28B 5511, U30B 5609, U25B 5056, GP9s 280 and 285, and GP35 1500.
Unlike in the US, here in Germany I rarely know about any special movement ahead of time. Most of the times it means missing things and seeing pictures later on the internet but sometimes the surprises can be fun. Yesterday since the weather was slightly sunny and pretty warm I decided to ride my bike to Muenchen Sued to see if anything interesting would show up. Right as my window of light was closing this showed up, a RailAdventure 111 pulling a new C2 trainset for the Munich U-Bahn. After a short but agonizing wait while a passenger train overtook the freight, I got the shot in the last seconds of sun for the day!

Y'all!! Look what I found today....Finally!! I've never found one before. In all my 33 years!
I decided to take my 52 weeks in my own hands without anymore themes from here on out. I believe the themes were sucking the life out of me and blocking any creativity. I felt so anxious this week every time I thought about the theme for the week. The themes are not hard by any means but I keep freezing up and dread for the project has for sure set in. I want to try my best to save it and finish it out on my own. Wish me luck!
This good luck charm was created two years ago for my 14-year-old niece Hanne who had to fight against lymphoma. She did great and the camp against cancer was won by Hanne. 2021 started off nicely but Mr Hodgkin thought otherwise. My dear niece, almost 16, has to fight the cancer again. Unfortunately, we both have to bring out our lucky charms again. For all of you who have to fight the same disease, a lot of strength, courage and love from the people around you. Next Monday, Hanne will have her first chemo. I wish her and everyone else in the same situation lots of courage.
