Which is the best themed restaurants in the Disney World Resort?
The Be Our Guest Restaurant is by far one of the best themed restaurants in all of the Disney World Resort. I got the chance to walk around and take pictures before I even went in as a guest so...

Bugs Acrobatic Love! HDR - macro with Nikon Coolpix S620 - edited/cropped with PS CS4 and Photomatix 3 tone mapping
As you see, I love HDR. To you who don't know HDR but would like to learn more about it, i really MUST recommend to have a look on the pages of my "HDR Guru", "StuckInCustoms" here in Flickr. On his webpage he provides a free HDR turorial: stuckincustoms.com
As I say... "Maybe... if I practise hard, one day I will be half as good as he is!"
This is Brobyvaerk... A small town on the Island of Funen, Denmark; not far from Odense, where H.C.Andersen was born.
A quiet autumn day in 2008... with magnificent skies ... here reflecting in the pond that builds up force for a watermill across the road... Shot with D300 on a tripod: 3 x RAW with bracketing and hi-speed continuous shooting mode: 2 steps between shutters.
Which Park has the best Christmas Tree?
I went to EPCOT extra early to to take a few photos of the park before it opened while I waited to practice with the Candlelight Choir and help the cast members learn how to group and move the guest choirs. It was a fun event, but I certainly had more fun that morning taking photos. I cam across the Christmas tree and noticed they were sweeping away the water from pressure washing the ground that...

Happy Guy Fawkes Day!

Did you get to ride Maelstrom one last time?
I was fortunate enough to ride Maelstrom on its last night with all the bloggers and fans of the ride. I was not the last to ride, but I did experience the last showing of the movie for the regular public. It was quite emotional for a ride that really when it came down to it, not many people liked. It seemed weird all of these people wanting to save it, when if you asked them last year if they should get rid of it for something bigger and better they would all say yes. I got a few shots of this place for its last night and wanted to post more in this one post. I will get the rest out soon. Keep looking at this blog for more pictures and also the Facebook Page.

The photo above is a 7-bracket HDR that I shot in an alleyway off 1st street south of Monroe. I’ve never really done more than three brackets for my HDR shots, mostly because I shoot a lot of weather and clouds move fast (plus no auto way to shoot more than three yet), so this was a learning experience. I essentially set up my tripod, took a very dark exposure around 2 seconds and then just increased the exposure time until I felt like I had enough brackets.
I also just loved the building itself, the decay, the details in the bricks, the hanging wires…all of it.
You’ll notice some blurriness in this shot. There are lenses called Tilt-Shift that do this kind of thing automatically, but since I don’t own one, I did it post with Photoshop. I am just experimenting with a few new ways to do things, this tilt-shift method of shooting urban scenes was mostly trying to emulate shots by some urban explorer photogs that I follow.
like it…but I’m not sure. I may end up posting a few alternative shots to this scene…one without the tilt-shift and one straight black and white exposure. I absolutely love HDR for many things, but sometimes the original exposure is awesome as well. You’ll see an example later this week when I post an alternate shot of the Hotel San Carlos (posted below this).
What do you love about France?
Before coming to Walt Disney World, I looked at people's photos of the parks. One picture that stood out to me was a shot of this area in France in the World Showcase. They never mentioned where it was taken, but only that is was on WDW property. When I came here and set up my tripod for the first time, I found myself in this spot taking pictures. This shot was taken months ago and I wanted to wait for a great time to share it. I love the France Pavilion. I think the area is so true to form. I never hear about...

Have you been to the Dinoland Boneyard?
The story of Dinoland USA is one of my favorites. This little section of Dinoland is designed for small children to get out their pent up energy from waiting in line or waiting for their parents to get ride a ride because they were too small or even sitting through a performance. This area is great and full of detail that many miss. I don't know of...

Are you going o Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party? I want to see your costumes!
Walt Disney World have put on it's fall colors and is ready for Halloween. This year with a celebration of the movie Hocus Pocus. 2 Years too late if you ask me, but that's okay. One thing I love about Disney is how they are able to bring out feelings that you wouldn't otherwise feel. For example, I come from the North West. I have all four...

Have you experienced Expedition Everest in the dark?
Yet another shot from the Before Park Opening Collection. Here I am in Animal Kingdom and I was setting up this shot and enjoying the peace and quiet that affords me while no guests are in the park. I was told that people sometimes hear some of the strangest sounds early in the morning and so I can't say I was startled, but I was not expecting the sound I did hear. It was almost mechanical yet you knew...

Pedernales State Park, TX
My son and I spent the evening shooting the setting sun on the Pedernales River. This is him setting up atop a boulder (again) to get a shot. He loves HDR...
Photographer Notes: Typical 3 exposure HDR (+/-2 ev) with Photomatix plugin for Aperture with a bit more heavy on the processing than I normally do because my son said the first one did not look like an "HDR" (which I took as a compliment ;-). Aperture levels, sharpening, etc.

What is your favorite area in ImageWorks?
My friend and I explored this area just the other day. I was looking for more photos of EPCOT and hadn't spent much time on the west side of the park. We had some fun and even got a coordinator called on us for taking pictures. I'll tell more about that when I post the picture we waiting to get. Keep an eye on his youtube channel to see more of our adventures. I love this spot in EPCOT. I'm a huge fan of...

What do you find to be magical that others take for granted?
I have very sensitive eyes, so I am usually wearing sunglasses during the day. I switched over to polarized lenses some time ago and never went back. One of the benefits of having polarized lenses is seeing thing that others can't because they are either squinting, or there is some sort of other light blocking their view. Sometimes what I...

What do you think the story is here?
One of the things that people seem to miss as they adventure through Animal Kingdom is the little details. The roads have tracks in them of local types of tracks you would find, be it a bike or little car. In Asia the roads and building are just full of these little but profound details. As I was walking along I saw this walkway with backpacks and lanterns and next to the building was this bike. I had to wonder what the story was...

3 Exposures: +/- 1.0 step
It's been a while since I've done an HDR (now I remember why I love HDR's) - tried something a little different with the camera settings this time.
I tried a few variations, including a B&W version.. but finally settled on this one.
I just love HDRs! I had been wanting to do this for some time. This was taken at a busy time of day. I had to run out, set up the shot before cars came from either side. There were numerous times before I got this series (on wide bracketed, high multi-shot mode) that I ran out and just ran back.

I had to do gear shot. Shot with Nikon D200, on camera flash in TTL mode, AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G lens, Aperture: f/4.0, Shutter: 1/125 sec, ISO: 100. I used HDR Efex Pro to add the HDR effect. You have to love HDR. I'll spare you from the rest of my test shots.

It is up to your personal taste.
Many will love HDR, while many other will strongly dislike it.
The example is based on one single identical RAW file.
Shot in Ordesa with a Canon EOS 30D, ISO 100 f6,3 1/30 sec.
This is a very slightly treated combination of 5 separate shots that allowed me to achieve a full dynamic range treatment of the potting shed interior.
I love HDR!

Is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad better in the front, middle or back?
I do not usually take photos with people in them, but when I do, it's because I saw an angle that had to be captured in the moment. Luckily I had my camera out while on the Liberty Belle River Boat as we were going around the Rivers of America. I only really had one chance to get this shot as the train was coming through. I made my HDR from a single shot. Although I was...

What unsung area in Hollywood Studios do you like?
I usually do not over process and saturate colors in my photos anymore, but this image almost begged for it. I love the color and how it just pops compared to the rest of the area. This needed to be like this in my eyes.
