We went on an impromptu drive with all of the little kids...we were gone for 3 days. We hit Page, Lake Powell, Bryce Canyon, & Monument Valley. It didn't break freezing temps the entire trip...it was 7F this morning when we left Kayenta and headed for home. The kids were probably bored out of their mind (LOTS of driving) but it was an amazing trip. Trying to pick through photos and choose which ones to edit and HOW to edit them (I'm used to editing portraits)...try as I might, I just do not and cannot love HDR. Ok, I'll be honest - I hate it. This is my edit from a single exposure, despite the fact that I was taking bracketed shots. I tried several different tone mapping options and well...blech. Read above. This was the winner. Lots more to come. :)

almost pitch black in this shed..gotta love HDR

please View On Black, then Dim the Lights!

Out for a drive today, on one of the first clear sunny days we've had in quite awhile. Spotted this and screeched to a halt... in the entrance of a run down auto repair shop! Hard to believe that something this pretty could be so close to a filthy garage with a dozen wrecked cars in the yard. I've come to realize that through photography, we create a fantasy world. Might be a beautiful fantasy - or just the opposite, but with the lens we get to choose!

HDR from 4 exposures, 1/2 stop apart. Shot with my T1i, EF 70-200 f2.8L IS lens. Processed with HDR Photostudio (AWESOME), with additional flavoring in CS4, Topaz, NIK Viveza 2. Can't believe how much I love HDR Photostudio!

Have you seen the Lights on the Castle yet?

I ventured over to Magic Kingdom to take pictures of the lights that have made it onto to castle for the Holiday Season. I'm so excited and they look great! The castle is so majestic and it has easily put me in the mood for Christmas. I can't wait to take more shots from different angles and share them with you all. Plus, there are so many things that are decorated from the parks to the...

What do you think of the FastPass ONLY line?

I recently spoke with a cast member of Toy Story Midway Mania in Hollywood Studios about Disney's test run of the FastPass Only line. He said it was great. Well, great to have a manageable line, but not so great with the guests who didn't have FastPass and wanted to rip his head off. I'm sure many people were furious with the idea. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I liked the old system where you...

Which Tree is better: Magic Kingdom vs Disneyland?

Oh the lack of sleep I get while trying to get just the right photo. It is a sacrifice for all of you that I get up at 2:30 am to go to the parks and resorts to take these photos. I'm not complaining! I actually love this. I just want you to know that I do not just get what life gives me, I take more. I really enjoy what I do and I hope what I am doing is worth your time and brings you joy like I get from doing it. This is my gift to you this wonderful season...

wouldn't it be nice if God sent the Bible through mailboxes? I think it would be...

Another HDR from me...I like this one better than the radiance (HDR), but that's my opinion.

The cool thing here is that I didn't need/use Photoshop to get this.

Is the grey stuff THAT delicious?

I love this place above most places for being extremely accurate to the dimensions of the movie. I love the feeling of walking into a place and have the sense that I left the real world to step foot into the movie itself. I had the same feeling the first time I walked into Carsland in California Adventure. There are very few places that do that...

Kurdistan HDR PICTURES 2009.Thanks for your visit ,added this as a favorite. Photo HDR

This is an example of why I love HDR. This seven exposure image of Arches' Ham Rock is seconds before sunset, and was to the naked eye, completely in shadow. I don't even care that the road is visible.

I am not sure, but if so it was great to see you today.

A sunset shot from this evening...I have several HDR's I did today, but I'm not going to post them all at once...I love HDR!!

How wet have you gotten on the Kali River?

One night I was walking around Animal Kingdom after hours and getting used to my new home, and I stumbled upon this area. Everything seemed so amazing. I had been in the park many times before for work and for fun, but none of my friends wanted to go to Kali to get wet. So as I entered this area, I was dumbfounded by its beauty. I immediately took out my camera and tripod and, like I had mentioned in a post before, got stuck here for more than an hour longer than I had planned...

Do you know the story behind this bus/food cart?

I have seen people take photos of this amazing bus/food cart before, but never been able to capture the full beauty of the colors displayed. The blue stands out so much against the green backdrop. I can't say I've ever bought anything from this stand, but it is amazing. People walk by this every day and appreciate this wonderful piece of work, but do they no the story behind it and why it is there in Asia? I...

Lovely day, storm just passed. All natural light. The owner loves HDR so I did this one specifically for him.

Does bad weather deter you from going to the parks?

The other day it rained, and rained, and rained, and I couldn't believe people still wanted to ride rides in Animal Kingdom. Luckily, I knew what rain meant for me. I got off work and raced home to get my camera gear and went right over to Hollywood Studios. I get there in hopes to take a picture of the Sorcerer Hat before they take it down and hopefully without the stage. To my...

While walking around Animal Kingdom the other night I came across this amazing spot to see the Tree Of Life, the icon of the park. It's quite majestic in it position and how it towers over everything. The river here reflected the tree so well I couldn't help but whip out my tripod and hold here for a while to get a shot of it. It's almost as though the water were a mirror or even that there was no water at all but rather another tree growing below the one we see. Animal kingdom has so many of these...

What do you love about the Walt Disney World version of the Haunted Mansion?

Welcome Foolish Mortals!I've said this one before, but out of all of the comparison attractions between Disneyland and Walt Disney World, the Haunted Mansion wins with everything except one simple thing. The building itself, I like the simplistic Disneyland version. This one here in Florida is over top better. It never goes to the Holiday overlay and there are even more...

My brother asked me to take some pictures of him and his girlfriend.

I'm sorry folks for the time off. I was experiencing some major issues with facebook and I decided to take some time off for my birthday. I had a great time and was very happy to spend some time with great friends. Also an addition to my work resume. I have now become trained to work the Dinorama attractions of Primeval Whirl and Triceratops Spin. These are great...

What extended queue makes you want to stay in line longer?

Some of my favorite things to do is venture into the extended queue areas for the attractions. Many times, there are things that people get to enjoy if they are in line for over an hour on the more busy of days. It's sad that some of these places just collect dust (figuratively speaking of course) during slow times. This one happens to come from...

Why do think the parks at night seem to be more magical?

Out of all the parks, Animal Kingdom and EPCOT are the most friendly for me as a photographer. They are very chill about me staying around after to take a few shots. Magic Kingdom has strict rules about staying after and now that I abide by them I'm fine. But for some reason Hollywood Studios seems to give me problems. Regardless, I love the park. I...

What would you like to see Glow!?

I have always loves EPCOT. There is something about the park that draws me in and makes me never want to leave. Maybe it's the many things in World Showcase or the innovation. But I know the moment I stepped foot there I was home. From day one of Digital Elegance, EPCOT has had some amazing shots come out. My first photo was...

What are your thoughts on Disney's Animal Kingdom?

When I first heard I was going to Animal Kingdom to work, I looked up the park hours to see if there was a chance to get overtime hours and work more. It turns out that this park closes frequently at 5 pm and most likely before any of the other parks. I was upset, but then realized, this gives me a chance to go take photos every day after work at any other park very easily. I love it. I can go...

What do you think of the show in Canada?

Every time I go to EPCOT and World Showcase, I seem to find something new. I seriously have not spent enough time in this park. I've been here for months now and I still have not been over every inch of this place. Hollywood Studios I feel the same way though. Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom, I feel I know the best, but still I am learning more and more each time. And now with...

Lighthouse at Poddersdorf, Burgenland (Austria). And I love HDR. This shot would have been impossible with the sun shining almost directly into the lens.

This is actually contains a 5 exposure HDR plus more. To further smooth the image and restore realistic definition and color, I applyed a tone curve corrected version of one of the original exposures as a semi-transparent layer over the tonemapped HDR image. Anyway, there is no way the skyline and the guitar mural could both have been properly exposed in the same image without HDR, which is why I love HDR.

The original HDR gave Nashville a dark Gotham City look, which is appropriate with the bat tower and all you know. That feel is less apparent in this image, although I may make more adjustments to the HDR.

Rollover the image above for building info.

Which park has the best play area for kids?

Many of the parks have a little area for little kids to blow off steam in a controlled area while the parents sit and relax for a bit. For Hollywood Studios, that place is the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure. Here you can bounce around on larger than life toys and explore the the backyard like never before. This shot is...

Where in Disney World do you go to watch the sun rise?

I tried to get out last night to retake the photo of the tree that I had from the other day, but I ran out of time. So I decided to go this morning instead. I love the opportunity to just get up and go. I couldn't for the life of me get a great angle on it and I was about to give up when the sun started rise and the clouds in the background started to turn from their shades of dark blue to red on their way to...

Do you ever visit the other resorts when you visit?

This one night I was walking with some friends around Yacht and Beach after getting some ice cream and had some time before I had to get home. So I decided to look for new areas to photograph. I stepped into the Conference building between the two resorts and was taken aback by the colors and how that normal guests that come to the parks never see this. I doubt many of the guests of the resorts even see this. Those that have had some sort of conference here have been fortunate enough, but that limits the numbers that have stepped foot here. I love this place. I have a series of photos that I had to get and will be posting them all in time.

Have you ever seen this spot in Animal Kingdom?

Here I was traveling through Asia, I had just finished taking photos of the mountain range with the expedition trails and train. I started to head to Africa when I saw this quaint trail to my right. It was weird to me, it looked as though no one ever walked this way. Sure the trail was swept, but I had to know where it went. I decided to follow it...

Which Resort has the best Christmas Tree?

When I went to visit the Contemporary for a Disney fan event. Well mainly the store part of it and maybe hopefully see Tony Baxter again. I had about an hour to kill before I thought I should go over and line up to get into the store (which I started the line and met some great people), so I thought I might take a couple photos of the Contemporary Resort. Have you participated in the Enchanted Tales With Belle?

I came here one night to take pictures but had no idea what this place was really. I knew it was in Belle's house or is it? I came in and started taking pictures. I couldn't help it. This place was so beautiful I had to come during "Regular business hours" to really get an idea of what I was taking pictures of. This happens to be the case for many of my photos, unfortunately. I seem to work during the day and come to these places when no one is...

Which resort has the best Christmas decorations?

One day, a couple of months ago, I ventured over to the Fort Wilderness Resort. This shot I found as I was walking into the hotel.
