it was a lovely day on sunday-- warm and sunny so i hied myself down to plymouth to take pictures of some of the artist-decorated lobsters the town has installed. if it's like the decorated bunnies in dedham, they will raffle/auction them off to raise money for arts programs. did a little research and there are 29 of them. this one was near the harbor and the plymouth rock memorial.

Taking the Lobster Pots out!

My family usually does Chistmas dinner on Christmas Eve. This year it was just my mom, my brother and me, plus our doggie Shannon, recently arrived from Chille. Everything was a bit different with this year's celebration, including a lobster dinner, in place of our more traditional turkey dinner.

Early morning at Grande-Rivière.

A quick 'f8 and be there' shot of the many empty lobster pots in Whitby harbour. It was a lovely weekend doing a bit of camping up there. Though I spent far too much time enjoying the local ales and fish and chips to get much photography done!

"Babies don't need a vacation, but I still see them at the beach... it really winds me up! I'll go over to a little baby and say 'What are you doing here? You haven't worked a day in your life!"

This is a 355 second exposure of a Lobster Pot along Eastbourne seafront.

I'm not actually sure if I like it or not.

This looks better in colour so left it as it was.

Thanks for all your comments, favs and views which spurs me on to take more pictures.

Slipper lobsters have six segments in their heads and eight segments in the thorax, which are collectively covered in a thick carapace. The six segments of the abdomen each bear a pair of pleopods, while the thoracic appendages are either walking legs or maxillipeds. The head segments bear various mouthparts and two pairs of antennae. The first antennae, or antennules, are held on a long flexible stalk, and are used for sensing the environment. The second antennae are the slipper lobsters' most conspicuous feature, as they are expanded and flattened into large plates that extend horizontally forward from the animal's head.[3]

There is considerable variation in size among species of slipper lobsters. The Mediterranean species Scyllarus pygmaeus is the smallest, growing to a maximum total length of 55 millimetres (2.2 in), and rarely more than 40 mm (1.6 in).[4] The largest species, Scyllarides haanii, may reach 50 centimetres (20 in) long.[5]

A trio of Maine lobster photos (1 of 3)! For their 40th anniversary, Route 1 mainstay restaurant, Taste of Maine, decided to add a 70 foot long inflated lobster to their roof! It is so eye-catching that they needed to post a sign, advising people to refrain from stopping on the road! Seen in Woolwich, Maine, USA, during my June, 2018 visit. A note from the restaurant's Facebook page: "In honor of our 40th anniversary, “Larry the Lobster’s” arrives Wednesday May 2nd! Larry is the world's largest inflatable lobster, at 70 feet long and 12 feet high!"

The Bahia Honda State Park at Bahia Honda Key, Florida, offers a great variety for wildlife encounters. Besides numerous species of birds, there are insects, reptiles and sea creatures as well and sometimes even manatees can be seen there, too.

While diving next to the peer I found multiple remains of Spiny Lobsters (Panulirus argus) and placed one of them at the rocks for a quick wide angle photo.

I went shopping at Wegmans and walked past the lobster tank and noticed this big guy staring out at me. I felt sorry for him, knowing what his future holds.

Not sure I would want to meet that one snorkelling!
