The Yellow Lodge at Warm Springs:
A stack of bright yellow lobster cages stacked on a dock reflect in the sometimes calm waters of the Maine harbor.
Lobster pots piled up next to a wall at Kilmore Quay harbour in Co. Wexford. I don't think they've been anywhere for a while as there are clumps of lichen growing on the bottom ones. Happy Wall Wednesday.
In the large bay area around Bar Harbor the numerous islands and inlets provide some degree of protection from the full fury of the North Atlantic Ocean and numerous small and some moderately larger boats go along the coast setting lobster traps. Back in the 19th century huge large lobsters were still common but now under law way too many lobsters have to be thrown back because they are too small and young. Of course a moratorium of lobster fishing in the area for a couple of decades would do wonders for letting the lobster population recuperate but don't hold your breath on seeing that happen anytime soon.
This bell is a trinket purchased in Nova Scotia. The little lobster hanging inside the handle is intended to honor the fact that the tiny Canadian province of Nova Scotia is the world's largest exporter of lobster (sourced from Wikipedia, hope that's right!). I guess maybe they have lots of snakes too? HMM!
Empty chair, unfinished dingy, chunks of ice all mark the off season for lobster fisherman in the Northeast.

Most people who take photos of the lighthouse tend to try and crop out the restaurant but I thought I would bring it to the fore as it looks as though it has just had a paint job!
