A lobster trap is a portable trap which traps lobsters or crayfish and is used in lobster fishing.

In British English a lobster trap is called a lobster pot.

A lobster trap can catch more than one lobster at a time.

Lobster traps were traditionally constructed out of wood but they are now usually plastic.

An opening permits the lobster to enter a tunnel of netting. Pots are usually constructed in two parts, called the “chamber” and the “parlour”.

The lobster initially enters the chamber, and then moves through another tunnel of netting onto the parlour where there is bait.

Lobster pots are usually dropped to the sea floor about a dozen at a time, and are marked by a buoy so they can be picked up later.

I ALWAYS find them photogenic, I have a whole collection of images of them...

Take care, be safe!

THANK you, M, (*_*)

I have always thought Lobster pots make for very good photos especially when in monochrome.

Ends in a couple of days. Time to rest for the fishermen after 68 busy days of fishing Lobster.

Or as locals say 'lobstahs'. This was the line for lobsters at Five Islands, in Georgetown, Maine. This is the traditional last summer weekend extended with a Labor Day holiday on Monday. This was taken in late afternoon yesterday. There were also lines for some side dishes and for ice cream. A very lovely day and a great view of the harbor from this pier.

Although several other groups of crustaceans have the word "lobster" in their names, the unqualified term "lobster" generally refers to the clawed lobsters of the family Nephropidae. Clawed lobsters are not closely related to spiny lobsters or slipper lobsters, which have no claws (chelae), or to squat lobsters. The closest living relatives of clawed lobsters are the reef lobsters and the three families of freshwater crayfish.

A vintage lobster claw souvenir that I remember seeing at my grandfather's house! He must be at least 70 years old. I found him again when I was cleaning out my Mom's house. He's fragile but still on display, this time at my house!

Was back in Rockport, MA today. Sky was very bland, lighting was not great but worked for the lobster (lobstah) traps.

With my tripod and camera set up in front of me, I sat in my chair on the campsite hoping to get a shot at some shore birds. If there were no birds there was always some interesting boat action I could catch with the 400 mm lens. I had seen the colorful styrofoam buoys throughout the Keys marking the location of lobster traps, but this is the first time I saw the Spiny Lobsters being harvested.

With a morning cup of coffee on a brisk morning, this Lobster Fisherman is heading out to his boat.

The name on the back of the truck is pronounced "young-doh-gae" and it means "lobster from Young Do" (a seacoast town in South Korea). So what you see is a food truck that specializes in lobster.

A lovely day travelling on Inisheer Island. The Lobster Pots are beautifully and handily crafted for durability. Not much is better than tasting the fresh seafood from the area when the wind chills and the sun goes down.

Morning all and what a glorious morning it is too, the sun is shinning and I don't have to go to work YAY, So nice not to have to worry about mixing people.

That said I am rather looking forward to the hustle and bustle of normal life when this all goes away.

So today I will probably top up the lobster tan
