so i went to my local grocery store to take a picture of the lobster tank and after explaining that it was a photographic scavenger hunt, the very nice man took these two out and gave me a lesson in lobster ID. the one on the left is male-- see the small legs between the 8 legs at the top? if they are more like legs, it's male. the female, even though this one is large, has more 'feathery' ones. in a little bit i'll put the companion shot up which shows how to ID them from the upper side.......
btb, he asked if i wanted to hold one and he'd take the picture--
"no, thank you," said i.

A European Lobster (Homarus gammarus). I actually thought the lobsters were red-ish like a crab when alive, but apparently the are ranging from dark blue to bright blue whan alive and only turns red when being cooked.
I'm back from London! This is Salvador Dali's Lobster Phone. I went to the DALI exibition in Westminster... too exciting! Photography is not permitted, hee, hee.
Well I already have designed lobster 1.0 and 2.0 which you can see here: www.flickr.com/photos/langko/7356630478/in/set-7215762941... and here: www.flickr.com/photos/langko/7507681188/in/set-7215762941...
The first one I designed when I was a beginner and it is crap. The second version is much better but I still don't really like it. So now that I have much more experience and I am a better designer I decided to fold a version 3 and this looks much more like what I had first imagined in the first place. Whilst cps 1 and 2 are fairly simpler I decided to completely change the structure for this version and the grid stays the same. I'm not sure when I will upload the cp. I don't have the program that I use on my computer at the moment... I hope to upload the cp for this and my quetzal soon.
Boxpleated on grid of 48. Folded from a 50cm square of tissue foil. Hope you like it :D
Lobster, cheese curds, hollandaise sauce, and French fries.
It was great!

The design is by Jason ku and the CP can be easily found on Google. BAD mistake lol The paper I used was too thick for this but I think it worked out fine. It has most of the details of a regular lobster but since only a cp has been released, I had no clue how to fold some parts like the swimmerets and the tail fan. Please tell me what you think and I might consider folding it again :)
I was out and about in Center City this afternoon so I decided to stop in the Reading Terminal Market. I have several nice shots from this location that I will share over the next few days. A nice 2lb cooked lobster sounds pretty good to me!
Comments welcome!
Kennebunker posted a beautiful photo (www.flickr.com/photos/50313616@N03/52205224802) from Maine of perfectly organized lobster traps stacked one on top of another, each with an identical, neat arrangement of buoys and ropes inside. No one in the Rockport, MA, lobster fishery is that neat.
It's a long story, but the happy ending is that the rest of the lobster managed a clean get away. : ))
I came across all these lobster pots on the beach the other day - don't think anyone would be trying to catch lobsters but guessing a fishing boat has lost them whilst out fishing and they've washed ashore!
Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.
Lobster Pot - Provincetown, MA. Looks like a tourist/lobster trap. But actually really good food and plenty of lobster.
Lobster pliers, unused - I'd forgotten we had them until I started searching for something for Macro Monday's theme "Utensil" - HMM!
NGC 6357 is a diffuse nebula near NGC 6334 in the constellation Scorpius. The nebula contains many proto-stars shielded by dark disks of gas, and young stars wrapped in expanding "cocoons" or expanding gases surrounding these small stars. It is also known as the Lobster Nebula.
This nebula was also given the name War and Peace Nebula by the Midcourse Space Experiment scientists because of its appearance, which, in infrared images the bright, western part resembles a dove, while the eastern part looks like a skull.
It is located about 5500 light years away from Earth.
This is also my first image taken with my new setup gear, Tak FSQ85EDX Astrograph & iOptron IEQ45 Pro mount.
Image were taken from Negev desert Israel on Jun 18-19, 2020, Two nights sessions, Moonless nights.
At first night I had issues with my gear so I started imaging at around Midnight, so I haven`t got much data from this night. At second night everything went smooth so I had all night to gather as much data as possible. The weather and sky condition was very good for both nights, around Bortle 3, had some dust and humidity at first night and no dust and humidity at second night. Overall I`m pleased with the results that I got from this setup considering that it was a first light.
