I bought a frozen lobster and made some salad for dinner. One lobster is really not enough for two people :-(
And to be frank: I prefer prawns when it comes to seafood. But maybe I should try fresh lobster first?!
Lobster:
- Nova Scotia Lobster Navarin with Chestnuts, Butternut Squash and Tarragon.
I can write an essay about this plate. I can talk about philosophy of cooking lobster, luxury, opulence, art and craft, theory of soup - and it would be a decent read, I hope. Or, for dramatic purposes I can used profanity - it's an old trick: profanity is so risque and cutting-edge ... if you live on Park Avenue.
Instead, I'll give you two words:
Lobster Stock
- because the one used in this dish has surpassed everything imaginable and virtually possible, as far as stocks, broths, cooking liquids etc. are concerned. The essence, richness, appeal and complexity of that taste is something words can not describe. I don't believe that stock was colored by saffron or lobster roe - as my servers said: "... it's made with a lot of lobsters"., and skill - might I add.
Please take a look at the entire 11 Madison Park/ Lunch picture set, as well as 11 Madison Park/ Dinner set shot earlier this fall. I would also like to give you a chance to see food of 11 Madison Park under much better lighting conditions, photographed and described by ulterior epicure..
Please consider Overall Impression , as you make your dining destination choices - I humbly hope to be of assistance.
Science teacher Megan Begley, from Maine Ocean School poses for a photograph wearing a lobster facemark. Begley is currently working on lesson plans to go along with the lobster research being conducted at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science.
This research is part of a National Sea Grant College Program study led by Emily B. Rivest and Jeff Shields at Virginia Institute of Marine Science to see how lobster eggs and larvae respond to ocean acidification and warmer waters.
Although the lobsters being studied are from Maine and Massachusetts, some lobsters can be found in Virginia waters. March 11, 2021 (Photo by Aileen Devlin | Virginia Sea Grant)
Designed and folded by Chad Killeen
folded from one uncut square of paper.
This is one of my favorite designs, I came up with the original design around a year ago, but it had one of the legs coming from the center of the paper. I later realized that I could move that leg to the edge and I could move the tail from the corner to the center.

Columbus Lobster Dinner Cruise is one of Cancun’s most famous night tours. It is a tranquil trip through the romantic and mild waters of the Nichupte Lagoon on our Spanish Galleon Columbus. The trip has been especially planned to share magic moments with that loved person… the lagoon would never reveal the secrets kept in this trip as in the heart of each other. Delicious surf n’ turf or lobster dinner with the finest wine is completed with the sweet notes of a saxophone.
Lobster traps were traditionally constructed out of wood but they are now usually plastic. An opening permits the lobster to enter a tunnel of netting. Pots are usually constructed in two parts, called the "chamber" or “kitchen”, where there is bait, and exits into the “parlour”, where it is trapped from escape.
Scientific Name: Hypomyces lactifluorum
Common Name: Lobster Mushroom
Certainty: positive (notes)
Location: Southern Appalachians; Smokies; CabinCove
Date: 20060725
The name is misleading: it is actually just (admittedly colorful) mold growing on top of some poor hapless malformed mushroom. In fact the host is so badly developed it can be impossible to identify. Fortunately this particular species of mold only grows on edible mushrooms, because it is highly-esteemed by those who esteem this sort of thing.

My very first lobster roll! My friend Gigi bought this for me when I visited her in Maine last weekend. Yum!
-Ingredients-
(3) 5-8 oz. lobster tails
2 small shallots, diced
3 cloves garlic, smashed (pasty)
2 tbsp. capers
3 tbsp. butter
1 cup white wine
Juice of 2 lemons
1/4 cup parsley
Salt and pepper to taste
Remove the meat from the shell by cutting down the underneath soft part of the shell. Butterfly the tail, there is a natural seam underneath. Cover in plastic and pound gently until thin. Dredge the lobster tails in egg and flour.
Coat a frying pan with olive oil. Place tails on medium heat and cook for about 4 minutes a side or until done. Remove tails from pan and pour out excess oil. Place butter in pan. Add shallots, garlic, capers, lemon and parsley. Let cook for 2 minutes. Turn up heat and add wine and lemon juice.
Let this reduce for a few minutes. You will see the sauce thickening. Add lobster tails and coat with the sauce for only about a minute.
Plate the tails and garnish with parsley.
Serve.
A lobster with lemons for ears. Lobsters are fairly easy to come by in Maine. This was taken at Helen's Restaurant in Machias, ME.
I woke up this morning to this nice surprise in my inbox... Metropolitan Market is using my Steak & Lobster image as a part of their Valentine's Day ad campaign. I'm super stoked!

Have the most fun you can have on a sailboat
went fishing with a bunch of fishermen and we aptly came back with a rather smallish lobster for lunch, something that we should have discouraged the fisherman from doing. ended up getting lots of distasteful look from the group - a reminder to the importance of practising what we preach

My wife and I were sitting on some rocks enjoying the ocean view at Acadia National Park when this lobster boat pulled up. Being from Iowa, I had never seen a lobster boat. It was very fun to watch as these guys came up to their traps and pulled them up. Each lobsterman has his own traps marked with different designs on the buoys. The guys knew exactly where their traps were. They pulled up their traps and pulled out the lobsters inside. They kept some lobsters and threw others back. Then they threw each trap back into the water to come and check again another day.
