The Lobster Claw in Orleans, MA on the Cape is such a great restaurant!! This guy is sort of a greeter at the front door!!
Yeah, I realize I've overdone the lobster thing (there are 3 more on another kitchen wall and some covered bowls and S & P's in the dining room) but they do bring me joy, tho I think they sometimes horrify guests. All are by Brad Keeler, a Calif. potter who died a young man in 1952, so I'm thinking these date to 1948-1950, judging by his other stuff, which, oddly, is rather straight forward pottery. I'm pretty sure I have all the various platter sizes (they are numbered on the bottom) and covered bowl sizes, but am forever searching for that elusive lobster salad bowl with full lobster sized handles. Let me know if you see one, ok?

Jenny had the lobster at Ollie Irene and loved it. Maine Lobster, butter-poached, with truffled herb potato risotto and melted cabbage
This was taken by a friend of mine, who also provided the hat. Lobbie was about 20 years old here, and she did not like the idea of the hat at all, can you tell? She didn't have to wear it long.

When asked if we could take a photo of his lobster, he lifted two of his prize catches up and shouted "I am number one" in Italian. The other fish mongers laughed at him and then he got hit over the head with the scale in the background by his colleague
At Lobsters R Us, one man watched over the big warehouses full of tanks of lobsters (it's the off season, so they are kept fresh and ready in holding ponds). "It' too hot," he said of the warm, rainless summer. "It never used to be like this." Jennie took this photo.
Judy bought live lobster for dinner from the famed Phil's Fish Market. She'd been advised that if you put the live lobster on a bed of ice, it will actually be grateful to you when you drop it in boiling water. Ironically, it was not the lobster who screamed!!
