I had 14 minutes to make this to get in the time. Whilst I went slightly over and missed the deadline, it has made me realise that I CAN scrap fast. I even quite like it.

Not sure I'm happy with this, may have to re-evaluate the papers and such. But oh well for now.
Journaling:
Some time in Missouri, I think, which would be 1985 or so. We had a blue station wagon at the time. I remember going to a car dealership, and Chris and I bouncing around the inside of The Van, a big 8 passenger Ford. I remember Dad and Mom asking us, Shall we take it home? Yes! we shrieked.
We had The Van for many years. It travelled overseas to Berlin with us, where it was a monster among all the little compact German cars. All the windows were tinted (except the windshield and the front driver and passenger sides) which made driving between east and west Berlin very interesting.
The best part was the back seat that folded down into a bed. On long road trips we would sprawl there, reading, playing games, dancing crazy to Dad's Cougar marching band tapes, Scott Joplin's The Sting. It was so nice to be able to stretch out and rest. (Though, yes, there were seatbelt laws when I was a kid!)
So many memories: the time the brakes went out in the Alps. When we couldn't see the stop signals in France ("It's red!"). The lemon pie Mom forgot on the hood that somehow didn't fall off on the way to the church!
I miss that old van.
For the geography prompt I found these photos from our summer road trip. The Athabasca Glacier was so much smaller than I remembered!

The two banks of hoffmann kilns stood under cover at the wast of the site and were demolished around 1999 when the works were modernised.
A pair of Union Pacific coal trains parallel each other as they climb a steep grade near the Coal Creek Mine.
Of two different types. Camel carts are pretty common all over and used for lugging pretty much everything from goods to people. Very hardy animals, camels are pretty large. Dwarfing Abhi and the motorcycle here.

Close up ... well this isn't that close up, but it is a detail that I definitely wanted to pay attention to!
I think there's a little bit too much bling on this page, but it'll have to do.

The company truck has a vertical pole to check for low bridges and wires. You can see the wide load approaching. The driver communicated with the truck driver via CB Radio and told him about the upcoming turns.

Today more than ever, there is great concern over damage to the nation's highways, secondary streets and bridges caused by overweight and unbalanced vehicles. Most every state and municipal law enforcement agency have adopted and practice weight inspection programs in an effort to insure highway safety and protect taxpayer investment.
Through the application of portable wheel and axle load scales, weight inspection can be administered at a fraction of the cost associated with fixed truck scales. Both law enforcement and trucking companies have benefited alike from this product concept

I used photos that had been printed out as a test and I could not bring myself to throw them away in March 2008.
The paper scraps have been used from one piece of paper that I started using on the first day of class. I have a smidgen of paper left and it just didn't fit on this layout!
I used the last few rub-ons from a Basic Grey set.

HISTORY:
Marvels was an amusement/theme park based at North bay in Scarborough. Originally two seperate parks, Mr marvels theme Park and north Bay amusement park. Mr marvels was an admission-charging family theme park with an American theme, and featured attractions including a 3-D cinema, dinosaur park, haunted smugglers inn and performing dolphin area, as well as a café and shops. North Bay amusement park , an adjoining free-entry funfair housed traditional favourites including two rollercoasters, arcades, waltzers, go karts and several other outlets. It also fed by not one but two chairlifts, on e taking people to/from the north bay promenade, and a second lift added in the early 90s connecting people coming in from the Peasholm Park side. The two parks eventually merged into one known as Marvels amusement Park, with the original Marvels area closing. The whole park closed in 2000, decaying gradually over the years.
As for the park today….
The site has been since left to decay over the years, although several respected relics survive. The volcanoes belonging to the dinosaur park survived until l 2006ish before being finally swept aside for development. The remains of the chairlifts are largely intact with the stations and support columns left standing while the concrete floor bases from major rides still linger. A large area of Mr Marvels has now been dug over in preparation for a new water park, ironically overlooking the site of the famous former waterslide attraction that was also closed at the same time as Marvels.
This U-boat bunker located near Bremen, Germany was build from 1943 until 1945 using forced labour, costing the lives of over 6000 men.
The massive concrete factory was meant to construct U-boats for the German Kriegsmarine. In the end, the bunker code-named 'Valentin' did not product a single U-boat due to heavy bombing and eventual conquest by the Allied Forces.
