I was drawing birds based on inspiration by Nigel Peake and wound up drawing birds from a "National Audubon Society Field Guide to North America Birds". I chose them based on color and interest to me at the time.

Wanted to flex my line-work muscle. I'm glad I did, because I'm really happy with how this turned out.

After doing a self-portrait of myself, my best friend stumbled upon it and decided I should do one of him.
this is seriously one of the best pieces of art i've seen one of my students produce. it was absolute inspiration watching him create it--he sat down with a vision in mind and executed it without so much as an ounce of self-doubt. the thing that killed me is he'd already finished a wonderful piece and he asked for a piece of scratch paper...i gave him this green construction paper instead (and so wish i'd given him the sturdier stock we used in this project). he drew the basic outline and asked if he could run with this idea he had...i told him of course because he had already completed the assignment and that this was his time to play.
i plan to find a nice frame for this over the weekend and surprise him with it.
