We were very lucky to get to Antelope Canyon before Labour day, and actually get a spot on the photography tour. This is a must do for anyone going to Antelope Canyon and wanting to take pictures. Only on the phototours can you take tripods, and the guides actually keep people behind corners for shots.
I came across this scene driving in the Eden Valley area. It was one of those 'stop the car' scenes. I love the rise and fall of the land, the iconic dry-stone walls and the lush green of the fields picked out by the strong sunshine.
what an inspiring sight on my way to work today!
I have begun the process of setting up a photo business, and have sold several prints and postcards and homemade cards of the night fire shot that was on KATU TV news... and my daughter is setting up a web page for me with a shop! I will be sure to let you know when that is set... meanwhile I have the fire shot on a postcard for sale if anyone is interested! I shall do a photo of the card and postcard to post with purchase info later...
so this is why I have not been here much lately... although I MISS so much all the hours of exchanging comments with everyone! Thanks to those who continue to come see my photos and leave me delightful comments that lift my spirits...
As I was helping my mom with her yard yardwork the sun started to go down and her lanterns started to light up. I loved the way these solar lanterns put out rays of light
That's no gumdrop, silly! That's Devil's Tower in between summer storms, during a visit I had there this past summer. For an hour prior to this, I had scrambled around trying to find a decent composition so that I could capture some lightning behind the big ol' gumdrop, but that never panned out. The storm kind of fizzled out, and I was headed back to the campground (we stayed at a KOA right outside the gates that played "Close Encounters" outdoors in the evenings), when a pretty nice light show erupted from behind Devil's Tower. If I were prone to hyperbole, I would call the light "wild" or "epic," but I think I'll stick with "pretty nice."
Odds and ends: You'll notice some longhorn cattle in the midground, but there were actually a couple of buffalo wandering around and I really, desperately wanted to get one of those things in the frame during this series of shots, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. So I settled for longhorns. I might take them out later, though
Thanks for checking out the photo!

Sunrays burst through a grove of trees in Point Lobos State Reserve. Point Lobos is one of 220+ of the California state parks that are in danger of being closed due to state budget cuts. (That's 80% of California's state parks!) More info at my blog.

I love mornings with a little fog. This photo is a crop from the previous one to control the tone contrast better. I shot this from Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park in Maine. It plays a trick with the eyes because of the valley below the fog which is between two small mountains.

The light rays over the mountain peaks of Assynt finally appeared after the intense morning storm.

A big thank you for your comments, faves or even just viewing my images :-)
More misty stuff from this morning. The latest word from those good people at the met office is that fog is expected in the morning...yay! Preparations are underway for getting up at stupid o'clock in the hopes of capturing more misty goodness ;-)
I won't be posting them all up here however, but will probably put the full set up on my facebook page tomorrow ;-)
Have a great weekend everyone!

One of two shots I got while shooting the sunset out at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The sun was difficult to work with but this epic view helped to create a sense of drama.
