Just cool to look at I believe. Taken in Sicily on one of my trips only just got around to showing it to you lovely people.. :)
At the foot of Wyoming's Tetons the waning day brings a cast of characters together to mingle for a moment of refreshingly untouched nature.

This is a slide from the 1950s, Kodachrome from my grandfather, quite likely a throw-away. The scratches were plentiful but not damaging and it seems like no one looked much at this underexposed photo. After cleaning it up and spending some time with it in LR, I cannot begin to describe how captivating I find this image in every possible way. The woman is my grandmother Doris.
Conisborough Castle was lit up on Armistice Day, to commemorate all the soldiers, the ones that died, and the ones that lived through the war to end all wars, and wars that followed since.
Without what those people sacrificed, I may have never been here to take this shot.
I came across this scene driving in the Eden Valley area. It was one of those 'stop the car' scenes. I love the rise and fall of the land, the iconic dry-stone walls and the lush green of the fields picked out by the strong sunshine.
what an inspiring sight on my way to work today!
I have begun the process of setting up a photo business, and have sold several prints and postcards and homemade cards of the night fire shot that was on KATU TV news... and my daughter is setting up a web page for me with a shop! I will be sure to let you know when that is set... meanwhile I have the fire shot on a postcard for sale if anyone is interested! I shall do a photo of the card and postcard to post with purchase info later...
so this is why I have not been here much lately... although I MISS so much all the hours of exchanging comments with everyone! Thanks to those who continue to come see my photos and leave me delightful comments that lift my spirits...
As I was helping my mom with her yard yardwork the sun started to go down and her lanterns started to light up. I loved the way these solar lanterns put out rays of light

That's no gumdrop, silly! That's Devil's Tower in between summer storms, during a visit I had there this past summer. For an hour prior to this, I had scrambled around trying to find a decent composition so that I could capture some lightning behind the big ol' gumdrop, but that never panned out. The storm kind of fizzled out, and I was headed back to the campground (we stayed at a KOA right outside the gates that played "Close Encounters" outdoors in the evenings), when a pretty nice light show erupted from behind Devil's Tower. If I were prone to hyperbole, I would call the light "wild" or "epic," but I think I'll stick with "pretty nice."
Odds and ends: You'll notice some longhorn cattle in the midground, but there were actually a couple of buffalo wandering around and I really, desperately wanted to get one of those things in the frame during this series of shots, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. So I settled for longhorns. I might take them out later, though
Thanks for checking out the photo!
i woke up this morning around 6 like all the normal teenagers who can't sleep in do, stretched, and saw these light streaks come across my arm from the windows and thought.. hey why not picture time.

Sunrays burst through a grove of trees in Point Lobos State Reserve. Point Lobos is one of 220+ of the California state parks that are in danger of being closed due to state budget cuts. (That's 80% of California's state parks!) More info at my blog.
