Found a new location this past weekend and the weather was perfect. But the really nice autumn colors haven't arrived yet so I went with black and white.
Dinorwic quarry is a large former slate quarry, now home to the Welsh National Slate Museum, located between the villages of Llanberis and Dinorwig in Wales. At its height at the turn of the century, it was the second largest slate quarry in Wales, after the neighbouring Penrhyn quarry near Bethesda.
Guinness is synonymous with Ireland and no visit to Dublin is complete without a trip to the Guinness Storehouse – the Home of Guinness. This is Ireland's No. 1 tourist attraction.

Another shot from Tynemouth with Ivor on Saturday morning . Thanks for looking . I deleted my last post I think it was a bit to soft and slightly out of focus .
Taken from Wheal Coates. It was horrible weather but there was just a brief break in the clouds before sunset.
Thanks so much for all of your views, faves and comments. I really appreciate all of the support this year and have thoroughly enjoyed all of your photos too.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very merry Christmas. Wishing you good health and happiness for the New Year.
Title thanks to Trapac - in another photo.
I was late by the time I got to this. I stopped and grabbed a few shots, especially this one, crouching to get the undergrowth. I was even later - but relieved that this came out at all.
I think this is worth looking at On Black or even larger On Black
Someone, not me, made this PRIVATE, and it lost all its faves.
The story is on The Disappearing Favourites Group.

So BE WARNED that if you go PRIVATE (for some reason) you will lose all the faves!
Thanks to all those that have refaved it.
A beautiful misty morning in the Eden Valley, so many images to be had today. This the first one of the day, a bit of height in the valley allowing me to get some of the sunlight piercing through the trees. One of those times where you just have to stop when confronted with this type of view.

I was waiting for such a moment a long time, I'm still not 100% happy with the result but I guess it's not too bad.

Saturday was my birthday. To celebrate, I attended a photoshop workshop given by Steven Hatch. One of the things he taught us was creating sunbursts with the gradient layer. This was my first attempt. What do you think?!?
Dusseldorf: Lightshow on the Rheinturm as an advertisement by T-Mobile for the start of 5G. The buildings in the foreground are designed by the architect Gehry.
There was an interesting light show at the craggy promontory of Hurlestone Point, while i was waiting for the sunset to transpire. The forecast was favourable so several togs were jostling for the best position to capture it. This is the view from climbing the safety barrier, which did not really add to the composition :)

High into the reaches of the sky these redwood trees have grown for thousands of years, and every year the floor of the forest covered in spider webs, clovers, trillium, and rhododendrons bloom as the fog slides through from the coast. With a little bit of luck, the fog can break just above you, and these beams will fill the forest with light rays.
Further to yesterday's post, this shot came as pure luck. While I was standing alone at the stern of the ship inhaling diesel fumes, I was also taking photos of the pass we were travelling through. i was shooting the weather on a distant mountain when this plumb popped up in my second shot. He never breached but from his flukes (that later appeared) I could tell he was a Killer Whale.
Amazing considering I had been shooting in the other direction only seconds prior to this encounter. Additionally astonishing given that he popped up right in the middle of my frame. Luck is often defined, "where preparation meets opportunity". However, this was pure chance considering I was photographing the mountain.
Taken last weekend with our first snow. In the meanwhile it´s gone again, but I hope for a comeback soon. White Christmas would be really nice.

But everything is different
‘cause we are in the thick of things.
It’s all about us
and it’s no longer like before,
and that makes us brothers
with the day on the sea.

A new day is a new morning game drive when you are on safari in Africa. They usually begin at 5:30AM to 6:00AM and oh are they worth getting up for.
Game drives are timed to see the most animals engaging in the most activity. The wildlife of Africa sleep a great deal as theirs is a life of hunting and survival.
In Botswana, the safaris are usually conducted by the operators of the lodges where you stay. The guides they hire have vast experience with the wild animals.
The guides accommodate photographers, of course, but I learned that other safari goers are not keen on stopping for sunrise pictures. They don't want to miss seeing animals but they don't know what they are really missing. I managed to get a few shots of the sun raising over the wild lagoons of the Delta.

Early morning in Byron Bay. The night before had been a pretty big night at a wedding, getting home in the early hours. Even despite the exhaustion, my insomnia still kicked in at 5 am so it was out and about exploring the area with camera. I had been up to the lighthouse, which you can just see in this photo, and was wandering back along the beach watching people and dolphins playing in the surf. A great way to both start the day and cure a hangover.
