The thunderstorm said to the moon, "my friend, I see you, so small, and yet you give so much light in the night sky. I have come to visit, as the earth needs rain. I will help light up your path to set in the night below the horizon. I must be on my way, let me give my lightning to you"
Rural Coles County, Illinois looking towards the twilight sky post-sunset of an intensifying multicell cluster of storms that I watched for nearly 3 hours. Sunset was amazing, then the moon came out. It is currently in its waxing crescent phase, which I personally love its shape as it adds a touch of magic to the night sky. Although, the lightning from these storms just made a perfect little story to tell.

Last week visit to Singapore after long time and must say Singapore didn't disappointed. Except tropical storm late night and was lucky to capture few lightning bolts . Enjoy, Mario.
went to redhead beach for a swim in the heat wave and hoping for a sunset off the beach. Not long after we got there a storm rolled in and last a couple of hours. Was exciting thats for sure.

I wasn't quite sure what to call this but looking at the design, the sum of every symbol represents a common ideology, despite the different traditions they originate from.
I have long been intrigued with Symbology, with its uses and meanings within different traditions. This illustration was inspired by readings about a variety of different symbolic references from, but not limited to Alchemy, Wicca, Paganism and Egyptian, Masonic, Norse (Asatru) and African traditions.
You may notice that the main frame work is the "Squaring the Circle": an alchemical glyph (17th c.) of the creation of the Philosopher's Stone - the top hemisphere representing the spiritual world, the bottom representing the material world.
Looking even closer, many more symbols make up the image including the Eye of Providence, pentacle flower, ouroboros (serpent eating its tail) and elemental symbols, to mention a few.
It's surprising to learn just how many traditional symbols are strewn throughout society. This is just a little tribute to the underlying traditions, philosophies and meanings that often go unnoticed.
Not often does one get to see storms roll in with the heavens clear above. Monsoon season in Arizona is my favorite time of year. I get to go out and take photos of lightning. I get the opportunity to capture nature at its most electrifying point. Only miles from my home in Prescott Valley, AZ, I can drive to near complete darkness, and see the Milky Way. This particular photo was captured at an ISO of 12,800 over 30 seconds at 28 mm and f/4.0 using a D750. I fall in love with this camera the more I use it.
The Illinois prairie gets lit up by cloud to cloud and cloud to ground lightning discharges for over 2.5 hours, as seen from east of Gays along IL Route 16.
It is very common for storms to fire up in these humid and hot afternoons and evenings here in central Illinois.
When they form, they have a lot of thermal energy they get to work with, and often times results in electric skies that light up the night.
To me, this is what summer is all about. It is officially lightning season :-)

Probably the luckiest shot I've ever taken - and with my phone. Storm rolling down the Rappahannock River near Dunnsville, VA.
This is where we stopped and tried to capture the NEOWISE comet, as well as get some lightning shots from the storms to the north and to the east. Don't let the photo fool you, most of the time it was VERY dark, except for the occasional flash of lightning or the flicker of lightning bugs.
Just another collage I've put together from bits and pieces I've found on the net. As you can guess I'm a bit of a Supernatural fan, with a particular interest in particular Dean.
Thank you for your comments in advance. If you take the time to comment on my work I will repay the kindness with a visit to your photo stream :-)
A stunning supercell storm over the vast plains of Colorado, this storm produced thousands of lightning bolts and several funnel clouds with powerful straight-line winds, dramatic to watch and difficult to photograph at times. Colorado, USA.
If you would like to chase storms across America and learn how to capture images like these, we will be running a 10-day photography tour in June 2020, with www.weatherholidays.com This will be Tour 5 of the 2020 chase season starting in Denver.

Late last night, perhaps around 11p, a small line of severe warned cells started moving into the Whitemarsh, PA area moving WNW towards NJ. Having struck out earlier, I made my way to a small park on the water in Florence, NJ, saw some lightning, took some pictures and then started heading home.
Having to stop for gas, I stopped off outside Bristol, PA and while I was filling my tank, a huge bolt dropped out of the sky to the East. Checking radar, there was a small cell starting to take shape that had been forming around Deptford, NJ but was beginning to take off south of Medford.
I didn't want to travel too far (I still had to work today) but found a place right on the water in Bristol, PA and was able to shoot right across the river, over Burlington, directly at this cell that at this point was moving more away from me than to one side or the other, so a pretty nice line-up. This cell threw out some pretty decent bolts and I'm glad I went out.
So sad, the remote control failed me and i missed the biggest and most spectacular ones
Que tristeza, el control remoto me falló justo cuando caian los mas espectaculares
This is a merge of 3 photos I took of a major thunderstorm in Houston from May 25 2015, looking towards the Galleria area of Houston.
The storm has been charged with hundresd of lightning flashes, but it was hard to get a few were I could see through the rain clouds to actually notice the ligthing bolt itself, but two of the photos had two thunder bolts each.
At the time of this writting (2:30 am on May 26th) This is already been called a flood of historic proportions. It has been raining since 8 pm and most of Houston is having some issues with flooding and power failures.
An Art Deco mechanical valentine (moving the arm causes the eyes to move back and forth) from the 1930s. This reminds me of Slim Pickens riding the bomb down to the ground at the end of Dr. Strangelove.
