Multiple lightning bolts part of an active storm moving up the Texas Gulf Coast. Lights on the horizon are from some of the ships waiting for morning to enter Aransas Pass and Corpus Christi Bay. Nikon D-810 with Nikon ED AF-S Nikkor 28-300 lens.

While out attempting to photograph the NEOWISE Comet I also took some shots at some (relatively) nearby lightning storms.

Electrical storms over Hong Kong at the start of summer are always spectacular. The storms are nearly always accompanied by rainstorm warning signals. The signals are used in Hong Kong to alert the public about the occurrence of heavy rain which is likely to bring about major disruptions such as traffic congestion and floods.

During the recent thunder storms we just had at our little town of Eastbourne.

I was just going to bed when the lightning started so I grabbed a camera a lens and cable release and rushed to the seafront.

First of all the rain was unforgiving and soaked my Nikon D750 and Tamron 15-30 but thanks to weather sealing and being built like mini tanks, once the rain stopped I carried on shooting like nothing had happened.

I only had one issue and that was my cable release wasn't working so I had to keep pressing the shutter button and self timer mode which wasn't ideal as this made me miss quite a few epic strikes.

A sudden thunderstorm hit our team-building, forcing us to rush the BBQ and move indoors to the tavern. I photographed the storm through a small attic window of the cottage – luckily the lightning bolts were perfectly visible from there. This image is a multi-exposure composite to show as many strikes as possible while keeping the cloud texture intact.

I noticed that there were many lightning strikes in a certain area and I had my 55-200 lens on because the storm was still far away so I took a chance and zoomed into that same area hoping to get a closer up photo of a strike and I got lucky! :)

Ended the Willard day a bit east.

Going through older pictures since fracturing my ankle last week. Here's a gem from central Kansas back in May 2018. An outflow dominant supercell began interacting with surrounding cells and went linear. It was a very photogenic shelf cloud that was a prominent lightning producer as well.

This afternoon thunderstom on Tasmania's east coast was very lightning active with not a lot of rain. Dry lightning can cause major issue fire issues in the tinder dry Australian bush.

What a surprise show tonight!

I got lucky traveling through Vincentown at a spot I've shot from before with good luck and I got to watch as this line of storms that had been kind of parked west of the city finally started to move out as the sun went down. There was so much lightning in this line, it was like a disco. First, C2C was only visible by the brightness in the sky but as this moved in, it started jumping out of the clouds every second. This thing had structure, presenting both a decent shelf cloud and a well formed wall cloud, and so, so, so much lightning.

Evening thunderstorm with Orion over the Gulf of Mexico from Mustang Island, Texas. Lights on the horizon are ships waiting to enter Aransas Pass and various oil platforms out in the Gulf. Nikon D-7000 with Tokina AT-X Pro SD 11-16mm lens.

Intense thunder storms rolled through Chatham-Kent around 9:30 p.m. on September 5 2014, producing downpours and heavy winds. Best of all, was the mass amount of lightning produced.

I was searching the archives for an image to be used in a Dark MoFo promotion and decided to rework the original images into a panoramic composite.

If you're heading to Hobart mid-June you might want to check out darkmofo.net.au.

A storm is coming, just like last weekend. What a summer!

Usain Bolt Signs Lifetime Partnership Deal With Puma - Usain has been with Puma since the early days of his career but once found himself on rocky ground after a disappointing season in Athens. Since then Bolt has reinvented himself and climbed to the top of track and field giving the Puma brand tremendous leverage. “Usain has a lifetime partnership with Puma not predicated on him being an athlete. Usain will always be an athlete but even with the music it’s an expansion of the lifestyle brand…even during the pandemic, Usain was not competing but creating news in various ways. That’s how you transition into lifestyle,” Walker said. LINK - www.dancehallmag.com/2021/06/17/features/interviews/usain...

Usain Bolt - The Honourable Usain St. Leo Bolt, OJ, C.D. (born 21 August 1986), is a Jamaican sprinter and a five-time World and three-time Olympic gold medalist. He is the world record and Olympic record holder in the 100 metres, the 200 metres and (along with his teammates) the 4×100 metres relay. He is the reigning Olympic champion in these three events, and is one of only seven athletes (along with Valerie Adams, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Jacques Freitag, Yelena Isinbayeva, Jana Pittman, Dani Samuels) to win world championships at the youth, junior, and senior level of an athletic event. His achievements in sprinting have earned him the media nickname "Lightning Bolt", and awards including the IAAF World Athlete of the Year, Track & Field Athlete of the Year, and Laureus Sportsman of the Year.

Bolt is the only sprinter to win Olympic 100 m and 200 m titles at three consecutive Olympics (2008, 2012, and 2016). He also won two 4 × 100 relay gold medals. He gained worldwide fame for his double sprint victory in world record times at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, which made him the first person to hold both records since fully automatic time became mandatory.

An eleven-time World Champion, he won consecutive World Championship 100 m, 200 m and 4 × 100 metres relay gold medals from 2009 to 2015, with the exception of a 100 m false start in 2011. He is the most successful male athlete of the World Championships. Bolt is the first athlete to win four World Championship titles in the 200 m and is one of the most successful in the 100 m with three titles, being the first person to run sub-9.7s and sub-9.6s races.

Bolt improved upon his second 100 m world record of 9.69 with 9.58 seconds in 2009 – the biggest improvement since the start of electronic timing. He has twice broken the 200 metres world record, setting 19.30 in 2008 and 19.19 in 2009. He has helped Jamaica to three 4 × 100 metres relay world records, with the current record being 36.84 seconds set in 2012. Bolt's most successful event is the 200 m, with three Olympic and four World titles. The 2008 Olympics was his international debut over 100 m; he had earlier won numerous 200 m medals (including 2007 World Championship silver) and held the world under-20 and world under-18 records for the event until being surpassed by Erriyon Knighton in 2021.

His achievements as a sprinter have earned him the media nickname "Lightning Bolt", and his awards include the IAAF World Athlete of the Year, Track & Field Athlete of the Year, BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year (three times), and Laureus World Sportsman of the Year (four times). Bolt was included in Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2016. Bolt retired after the 2017 World Championships, when he finished third in his last solo 100 m race, opted out of the 200 m, and pulled up injured in the 4 × 100 m relay final.
