This image captured a lightning strike over the You Yangs on the western side of Port Phillip Bay.
It is a very early image for me, captured in 2014 with my first DSLR a second hand D700.
The night sky really spoke to those who watched this night. The thunderstorm competed with the green airglow for the viewers attention. And above it all the mighty Milky Way arched across the heavens...

A flashback to July 20th near Grand Bend. This was the last shot I took before being run over (time lapse below) by a nasty shelf cloud spawned by a cold front running into a brutally humid air mass for Ontario. It'll be unlikely to see more of these until next year, unfortunately.

Day after day of glorious storms!
Albuquerque cityscape from a favorite vantage point

Beautiful underside of shelf cloud (the cold and warm air interface of a storm) approaching me during the afternoon with a surprise cloud to ground "CG" lightning bolt striking in frame. It is a little shakey up close sadly kinda blurry if you zoom in because I was adrenaline pumped and the shutter speed was slowed down to compensate for lack of bright light. It was in my favor for that lightning bolt.

This 8 second exposure captured at least 3 bolts on August 11th, 2017 over the city of Hamilton. This storm was the remnants of a tornado producing storm that hit the small town of Hawkesville, Ontario. It put on one of the better lightning displays in Ontario in quite some time. Took this from the back deck with a 15mm focal length. Scared the crap out of me! Just in case you have not been this close to lighting before it actually makes the air smell different. If you are looking at the first sentence, no the smell was not from me.
We perched ourselves atop a ridge overlooking the Mary Valley. This shot in particular is looking back towards Gympie from the South.
We were certainly treated to a light show! Was even more pleasant to keep dry whilst out there photographing it.
The start of dawn over the Gulf of Mexico from Mustang Island, Texas. Seen here is the Moon and Venus along with dying thunderstorms on the right of the image. Lights on the horizon are ships waiting to enter Aransas Pass and various oil platforms out in the Gulf. Nikon D-7000 with Tokina AT-X Pro SD 11-16mm lens.

We had a lovely thunder and lightning show last night in Poole and the surrounding area. He is one of my captures.
Below are some more.
An active stormcell off the coast of Aringay in La Union. Aringay is a coastal municipality in the province of La Union in the Philippines.
A single shot of a fabulous lightning show as seen from the island in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. This photo was captured through the wet windshield of my vehicle while I stayed dry with my camera on the dash.
The sunset creates an amazing coloured sky as lightning from an approaching storm cell splits the sky East of Darwin.
Sometimes marginal severe weather days produce great results. Upslope flow was responsible for this photogenic supercell and big bolt on May 21st, 2018 just to the west of Fort Sumner, New Mexico. We were traveling north on US 84 heading to Santa Rosa, and this storm hit us good when we got into town.
