Second attempt - this time after some research on how to take pictures of lightning. Actually, the research only consisted of checking out other pictures on flickr to see what shutter speed and ISO they used...
lightning over Fort Lauderdale, from the 24th floor. One clap of thunder was so loud and close we felt it rumble and it set off a car alarm outside the hotel. The storm lasted about 4 hours.
from July 6 to July 20th i went to my boyfriends house in Florida. We went on a 5 day mini roadtrip to Sarasota, Naples, Miami and Fort Lauderdale. It was amazing.
Over the years I've captured a lot of cool lightning strikes! I don't have super high-end equipment nor am I a professional by any means. But I know enough about video, photography, and light, to capture an occasional good still frame from high-framerate video clips I capture. I have used many iPhones and other smartphones for this. I now have a new mirror-less digital camera (Sony Alpha a6000) but have found that it does very poor at video even compared to the iPhone X. I'll probably stick to using Smartphones for the time being, even if the clips end up noisy and sometimes out of focus. If you have tips for improving my game, that don't involve spending thousands of dollars, feel free to comment!
Lightning loved drinking milk from a soda glass. I put her on a table with a star lit back drop and a glass of milk and started taking pictures.

Oriental, North Carolina, July 29, 2020, 10:54 am: A bolt of lightning connects the Neuse River and storm clouds east of Oriental’s LouMac Park on a gloomy and stormy morning. The fisherman on the left decided to try fishing another time immediately after the lightning hit.
Last evening, 20 august 2009, a stormalert was issued by the Dutch weather services. Somewhere around half past eight the first strips of lightining were decorating the sky already. Since the storm at that time wasn't on its best, I decidet to try and take some pictures. I photographed this lightining bolt at 1/30 shutterspeed and f 3.5 with my zuiko digital 14-42, 14mm.
The storm didn't really develop and subsided after an hour or so. No stormy weather, but a great picture though.
