Lightning in Worcester (July 2014)

We had amazing thunder storms come through last night, so I decided to get the camera out and take some shots. Could never get the timing right to catch a still shot, but got this video of the loudest boom. Slowed it down so you can appreciate the visual. Shot around 12:30 am on June 4, 2009. Video was shot on a Canon PowerShot S5 IS.

A lot of the big trees on the park have been struck by lightning. This one has the characteristic screw pattern of scorched, dead wood going down it.

Tree I found on our property that was hit by lightning

My first lightning shot! There was a cloud full of lightning just bouncing around inside so I rushed out and had to balance my camera on the roof of a car. Out of 10+ shots this one was the best.

ATLANTA, GA....The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre is one of metro Atlanta's newest performing arts venues. This photo was taken (in HDR) during a powerful electrical storm in April 2009. Looking back on the shoot, it probably wasn't a good idea to be out there with my Bogen tripod! I'm happy with the result though.

Finally was able to catch a lightning bolt, not much of one though :-)

While listening to a violent storm occur I decided it would be a good idea to see if I could capture lightning. I sat near the window for an hour and only got this one shot. I am very pleased with the outcome considering lightning is such a hard subject to photograph

Lightning

An old Disc Golf basket turned this tree into a lightning rod. Lightning struck this beautiful Yellow Poplar and fried all the phones in my home. Lexi looks on as I take the pic.

When lightning struck our neighbour's house, a beam from their balcony was thrown 40 feet and landed on our doorstep. Other debris littered the driveway, but our Vespa was spared.

The candidates hold up the "lightning round" signs at the City Council Candidates Forum, Ballard High School Auditorium. During the lightning round, the moderator asked one question of all the candidates, and they were to hold up YES, NO, or "waffles" signs.
