Taken from inside the safety of my car. The way lightning was striking on Aug 24 you did not want to be outside. Please excuse the rain dops.
A couple of forks of lightning that I managed to capture when a recent storm passed by. This was overhead when I got outside, but was accompanied by very heavy rain that meant I had to shelter instead of take photos. Once the rain had passed though, I could point the camera in the general direction of the lightning and hope for the best.
Technically, this was fairly simple to shoot. I set the shutter speed for 30 seconds and kept pressing the shutter, so the camera was continuously exposing the sky. As the lightning seemed to come every 2 minutes or so, this meant 3 out of 4 shots I deleted, leaving me with the ones like this. I was also using a 100 mm lens, which is probably not the best for something like this, but it did at least work this time.

Out of a couple attempts to shoot lightning during a recent storm, this is the best that came out. Really was not setup to do this properly, maybe next time.
I love electrical storms! Well, as long as we don't lose internet.. lol I'm soooo excited that i caught this! It's been over 20 years since i took these two lightning shots with my old trusty pentax k1000. I was planning on trying this while i'm down in Texas 'cause they're usually a nightly occurrence. Here, they're not quite as common. So it's extra exciting! We heard kids FREAKING out on the next block after a particularly intense, sky splitting, CRrRRRrRAAAAaaAACK!!!!!! Actually, they probably heard me too! :P
Definitely view large for extra electrical detail!
Lightning bolts from as huge thunderstorm that came through bastrop. I have so many pics from this storm
Nice little storm to cool things off after a HOT day! I noticed there was a lot of cloud-to-ground lightning so I drove to the nearest open field to the north to try and capture it.
Anvil lightning crawlers electrified the night sky. It was like a constant shower of electricity moving through the air.
An awe inspiring lightning show lit up northwest Arkansas late on June 14th into the early morning hours on June 15th. It was one of the wildest lightning displays I have ever seen. The pictures were taken from inside my garage. Two separate strikes hit across the street striking two cars and setting off the car alarm.
my first lightning picture ever, and it was almost an accident that I even took it. And it doesn't stink... yay!
Lightning in the valley. Kind of an odd pattern.

Look carefully and you can see the trails of the lightning bugs. I had my shutter open for 3 seconds. They were much harder to photograph than I anticipated.
