A couple of forks of lightning that I managed to capture when a recent storm passed by. This was overhead when I got outside, but was accompanied by very heavy rain that meant I had to shelter instead of take photos. Once the rain had passed though, I could point the camera in the general direction of the lightning and hope for the best.
Technically, this was fairly simple to shoot. I set the shutter speed for 30 seconds and kept pressing the shutter, so the camera was continuously exposing the sky. As the lightning seemed to come every 2 minutes or so, this meant 3 out of 4 shots I deleted, leaving me with the ones like this. I was also using a 100 mm lens, which is probably not the best for something like this, but it did at least work this time.

The image has been processed to show off the lightning bolt, as you can see by the halo around the tree in the corner.
The exposure was too long, and it was still daytime, so the lightning didn't have all that much contrast.
Lightning bolts from as huge thunderstorm that came through bastrop. I have so many pics from this storm
Anvil lightning crawlers electrified the night sky. It was like a constant shower of electricity moving through the air.
An awe inspiring lightning show lit up northwest Arkansas late on June 14th into the early morning hours on June 15th. It was one of the wildest lightning displays I have ever seen. The pictures were taken from inside my garage. Two separate strikes hit across the street striking two cars and setting off the car alarm.
Lightning in the valley. Kind of an odd pattern.

Whilst we had been treated to the amazing acceleration and interception climbing capabilities of this aircraft it finally did a slow low-level flypast. Probably based at nearby RAF Binbrook. The display was during an open day at RAF Northcotes in N.E. Lincolnshire in July 1988. Digitalised from 35mm colour transparency.
