Another example of some of my early lightning photography. Shot from the mountain brow in Hamilton along St Joseph Drive near the Juravinski Medical Centre. I remember being asked by many passerby's who were curious of what was going on as a few of us photographers set up shop to shoot the incoming severe weather. I also remember a group of teens walking by who just finished toking along the mountains edge laughing at our efforts.

Amature photos of lightning. I am learning how to use a Cannon Rebel EOS. Any advice is much appreciated.
Taken looking northwest over the Lenox area of Buckhead, as lightning photographs were also being taken by slingerdoo and AndersenKT. We and several other Flickrites were compensating ourselves with some weather photography for the cancellation of the sporting event we had been scheduled to photograph instead. Taken from atop my new monopod.

Unfortunately, this was obviously taken from inside, as it was pouring rain (a frequent companion of lightning :o) ). Terrible streaks across the window, as well as the eaves kinda ruin this shot, but quite a flash, anyway.
Also, a little overexposed...
This thunderstorm killed 2 people in a light plane and delivered over 20,000 ground-based strikes. Lightning was more than two bolts per second!

Lightning strikes. Shot in Bangkok, Thailand. All captures are real and achieved by using a combination of CDHK and MD7 motion detection script.
I took about a dozen long exposures before I finally caught some lightning. Not the best composition, but I'm still happy I captured the moment.
The storm in the wee early ours of the morning on August 21st brought some spectacular lightning over the Peone Prarie and Green Bluff.

... as dark clouds slowly drifted in, the sky became darker and darker. at first it just looked like a heavy raincloud, but as the front came closer you suddenly could see the lightning flashes behind this first cloud.
flashes every 5 seconds, most of them inside the higher clouds, suddenly a gust of wind and the rain started, more and more lightning flashes became visible and reached out of the clouds.
Much of metro Atlanta experienced bad weather with high winds, thunder and lightning, and hail last night. However, the weather was not so bad 45 miles north of Atlanta in Gainesville, where I live. But we did have heavy rain and lots of thunder and lightning, and I managed to capture one of the lightning strikes!
