It was a night filled with flashes in the sky. Not exactly common in Singapore, and I managed to rush up Mt Faber to catch the lightning over the Singapore city skyline.
Artsy Abstract of lightning striking in the farmland air of Boulder County Colorado. Agricultural Irrigation system view. Three different processed images in the rainy thunderstorm country landscape. This shot I had to push it a little so 20sec ISO400- F5.6 - 130mm. I miss two good shots on this one and these were just too far and in the rain to get real clear on the bolts. I was shooting to the north and if it would have stuck one more time I would have had a real winner. It was close. This images was shot looking SE from NE Boulder County Colorado toward DIA.

To all my Flickr friends. Thanks for your visits and comments. This is a crazy busy time plus I am still grieving the loss of my sister. Not on my A game right now and not much time to comment. Thanks for your support.
Taken May 17th, 2010 from my back porch in Katy, TX (Right outside of Houston). These pictures are my first attempt at shooting lightning. I think they turned out pretty well considering!
Lightning storm over Evanston, IL on 10/2/06
Note, if you will, the thin bolt of lightning extending down into the courtyard of our building.
I can't be positive this isn't some kind of light anomoly, but when I examined it closely it seems to be genuine, and not a reflection of another bolt.
UPDATE: Reading a comment from another user, ecl58, he says there are tiny lightning strands called "streamers" that start from the ground and go up to the sky, connecting with downward-traveling strands called "leaders". If this light in the courtyard is a streamer, then my ears are fortunate it didn't connect with the leader, which could have brought a major lightning strike just feet from where I stood, (shooting through the closed window).
Huge lightning storm passed over us that night. Was harder to miss the lightning than take a photo of it.
Taken in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Manage to get one shot tonight. The main part of the storm rolled by to quick to get set up. This was captured while taking random shots after the storm passed.
The English Electric Lightning is a supersonic jet fighter aircraft of the Cold War era, noted for its great speed and unpainted metal exterior finish. It is the only all-British Mach 2 fighter aircraft and was the first aircraft in the world capable of supercruise.
The Lightning was renowned for its capabilities as an interceptor; pilots commonly described it as "being saddled to a skyrocket". Following English Electric's integration into the unified British Aircraft Corporation, the aircraft was marketed as the BAC Lightning.

Took some pictures of lightning today. Didn't get any bolts really, but a few cool shots. (Got my lens wet :\)
There can be few more striking sights than the victims of lightning strikes. This one is actually in fairly advanced decay so is probably swarming with insects helping to speed the process along
