Very rare lightning storm in San Francisco. Set up my X700 with a 35mm lens and pointed it out of the back door to avoid the rain, so excuse the poor composition.
A friend said the lightning looked like someone throwing a spear. To me, it looks like a golfer.

A work in progress on Lightning, main protagonist of Final Fantasy XIII, and one of the most anticipated customs. I don't have much talent with decals so I am working with what I have available to me which is MMCB's cloth accessories which I modify to fit the character. Clearly she isn't finished yet but not bad for a start. I didn't want to show her until I had rest of the party finished but I just couldn't wait and wanted to give you guys a sneak peek of whats coming from me very soon (and by soon I mean very soon cuz the rest of the party is nearly complete).
Lightning in thunder bumper that formed in the late evening. It's mainly just cloud to cloud lightning.
It isn't wind or even thunder that worries me about storms, it is the lightning. The more lightning means more energy. This storm reminded me very much of the Leap Year Tornado. But it is beautiful to watch from your window when it is miles away.
exact same set up, both pictures 30 second exposures, 30 seconds apart, at 2:30 in the morning.
The first picture is just 30 seconds at night, nothing happening. the second picture is another 30 second exposure with a lightning flash occurring during it.
no photoshop or alterations on anything except putting them together.
I got some :) i have been trying so hard to get a better lightning pic then the one i had take out of my dirty window lol well this was taken standing on a bridge hand holding the cam as a had my body wrapped around a light poll trying to keep still LOL

Woot. Never realised how challenging catching lightning is. Missed a couple of awesome ones when the camera was processing random pics of the sky and a couple JUST as I was pulling the trigger >.<
I managed to capture one before it started raining hard and a truck parked right in my way.
Last night Atlanta had lightning storms over most of the City. This is one of my neighbors a few houses away. The family of 4 got out safely with nothing but the clothes on their backs. This is one of the first firefighters on the scene. The lamp in the window on the left is still on. It did not stay on long! The house was a total loss. The firefighters worked all night and into the next morning.
