The great thing about the beach is that it presents an entirely different universe from season to season, from day to day, from hour to hour, from second to second, with the ever changing wind, tides, clouds, and sun. A split second with tumbling surf and a sinking sun can make a vast different, resulting in entirely different photographs.

There was a group of us creative types that ran in a pack. One of those in this pack was my dear friend Kiran. Kiran has since passed away. This image was taken in her condo before we set out for the night. We were going to do our usual. Go to drink tea and eat at Cafe Istanbul, then off to the Korean spa. Then coffee in we hours of the morning. I miss those days. Oh, the life of a carefree artist.
This was shot in JPG using a filter set up in the camera before shooting. There was no post-processing.

Butter lamps are an integral part of any monastery. Every morning butter lamps are lit at the monastery which represents the illumination of wisdom. Pilgrims also get to light butter lamps at the monastery under minimal charge.

This East Van neon cross is an iconic symbol that dates back to its part of the city's origins. It is said to have had an 'East Van Rules' tag or insignia throughout the area over the years. The city has embraced this sign and it is now a permanent fixture at 6th and Clarke in East Vancouver: There is some controversy around its copyright that makes this sign's presence a bit gritty, and gives it its edge. The story about that is here:

I'm sure this has been done but I had this light bulb and I also had some snow. Someday, I'll have neither.
All Hallows' Eve, which is so often associated with demons and witchcraft in the popular imagination, is more properly a night of light: It is the Vigil of All the Saints.
On this night, the Church ponders the light of grace aglow in the lives of her saints and revels in their holiness which shines like stars for eternity.
The example of the saints, themselves a dim reflection of Christ's brilliance, is a torch in the darkness of our lives and of the world's sin. Their light leads us to Christ, the true light of the world.
This photo was taken at the end of the Torchlight Procession in Lourdes which was led by the English Dominicans in September 2007.
From behind, with some descriptions.. in Swedish though. But I guess most of my viewers here on flickr are swedish anyhow..

I apologize for the iPhone use. My camera is still away for repairs, but I wanted to show off my new light painting tools. It's a combination of a flashlight, strobe gels, film canister and some electrical tape. I hope to be using these soon to do some cool stuff.

I was messing around with candles at our balcony. It was already night and our pigeon looked kinda perplexed but I suppose she´s getting used to my crazy ideas. (Oh yes, it´s a couple of pigeons actually. They made a nest and have 2 little eggs here. I´m the only one excited about it though. My flatmates find them hideous and always scare them away.)
So, this is one of my try-outs. I was super careful because I´m totally scared of fire (since I burnt myself when jumping over fireplace as a kid) and avoid using matches at all if possible. However felt like playing with light contrast therefore I had to push myself a little :).

Widespread contamination of large parts of the world’s freshwater supplies is one of the legacies of the modern flush toilet. So the evolution of the toilet continues, necessitated by the need to use less water and so place less of a demand on water resources. Perhaps the next revolution will occur in the development of waste-treatment systems that minimize our reliance on water. In the meantime, look for technology to become increasingly water-conscious, both in toilets and in other bathroom fixtures.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toilet#History
The word toilet itself may be considered an impolite word in the United States, while elsewhere the word is used without any embarrassment. The choice of the word used instead of toilet is highly variable, not just by regional dialect but also, at least in Britain, by class connotations. Some manufacturers show this uneasiness with the word and its class attributes: American Standard, the largest manufacturer, sells them as "toilets", yet the higher priced products of the Kohler Company, often installed in more expensive housing, are sold as commodes or closets, words which also carry other meanings.
