4th of July Weekend
Matt and I attempting to take a cute picture with sparklers...should have made the shutter speed faster, but we were getting so bit from the bugs that we had to go back inside.
Mr. Hearst believed we shouldn't be ashamed of the modern incandescent light, and throughout the household you won't see any archetecturial or otherwise attempts to hide the pure unadulterated incandescent bulb from the viewer.
We had a crazy idea: invite people to watch the final of the Champions League at home, in a kind of inauguration or first test party. Crazy because there was a risk of seeing Barça lose, which would have been bad, of course.
For the match we borrowed a projector from ray, which could give us something like 80 or 90 inches on a wall. A projector gives a great light to shoot smoke, so that's what I did in this photo.
Las esferas no me han quedado muy bien, pero es una primera prueba.

Locked in a shadow
Praying for release
You found my prison
Your love was the key
So come on, light myday
And come on, light my way
Sometimes you just get lucky and the light and flight pattern come together; Ross's geese; Chen rossii; Merced NWR
For Twitter Photo Challenge #45: Shadow. I don't have time to think up really new ideas this week, as I have an absurdly hectic work week in front of me -- just to get things done before going to Australia on vacation (I guess there'll be photos here...)
So I started thinking of things I had done before which I could try again. A year ago I took a similar (but, in the end, very different) version of this sliced apple motive. I was lucky with the sunlight then. Not this time, so I had to emulate window light with flash today. But I had fun while doing it.
For details: See photo and description of setup here.

The picture is far too big to look at kid. Your eyes won't open wide enough
and you're constantly surrounded by that swirling stream of what is and what was.
And keep trying to find your way out of that maze of memories.
It all sort of looks familiar, until you get up close and it's different. clearly.
There is nothing I know except this lifetime's one moment
and wishing will just leave me empty.
So you can try and live in darkness but you will never shake the light.
It will greet you every morning
and it will make you more aware with its absence at night.
All across the electric wire, it's a baited line. The hook is in deep,
there is no more time. So you can struggle in the water and be too stubborn to die,
or you could just let go and be lifted to the sky.
The Spurn Light Ship, now permanently (I think) moored in Hull Marina and open as a museum. I think I've been in it before, many years ago.
Light fitting that rather curiously looks like a pair of sinister robot eyes or something, St. Andrews car park, Norwich, UK.
Perhaps its just me.
More fuel to the Colonel's fire.
If you’re in a darkened room,
And a small candle is lit,
The darkness retreats away
From light the candle emits
If two rooms are side-by-side,
One is dark, the other, bright,
And a door opens between,
The dark is conquered by light!
So when your life seems dark,
Just remember this law:
Light always conquers darkness!
Soon the darkness will withdraw,
And your heart will become bright,
As it is filled with the light.
