Birchington-on-Sea is a village in northeast Kent, England, with a population of around 10,000.
It is part of the Thanet district and forms part of the civil parish of Birchington. It lies on the coast facing the North Sea, east of the Thames Estuary, between the seaside resorts of Herne Bay and Margate. As a seaside resort, the village is a tourist and retirement destination. The village's Minnis Bay is a family beach with attractions such as sailing, windsurfing, a paddling pool and coastal walking routes. Its three smaller beaches are surrounded by chalk cliffs, cliff stacks and caves.
One day this sorry looking plant pot appeared out on my wall. Obviously it was a child's craft project, left forgotten next to an ash tray full of cigarette ends.
I kept looking at it, it always caught the light so well, be it sunlight or the lamp from above on the wall.
Its funny how the 365 really makes you examine the details of your surroundings. Today I made three images. Other days I struggle for one half decent one.

This color was a nightmare to edit ! Really hard to give the real aspect of this color with the camera.
Two years after the success in Rotterdam the China Light festival is back again in the Netherlands. This time it's in the Botanical Gardens at the Uithof where from November 21 2014 untill January 4, 2015 the dozens of light sculptures can be admired.
Messing around with light, one of the little side projects I started this year just for the heck of it. Gives me something to do while out chasing auroras if activity is low for awhile. Still learning, and figuring out things like exposure and other camera settings, along with technique and tools. More to come...

Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. Earth hour was conceived by WWF and The Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights.[1] Following Sydney's lead, many other cities around the world adopted the event in 2008.[2][3] Earth Hour 2010 will take place on March 27, 2010 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., local time.
I just got back from a Spring walk with the dog, with the sort of light that, as a photographer, makes your heart ache. Add to that the chirping of birds, an all-too-brief encounter with a Hummingbird, and all the blossoms lining the yards, it's going to be hard to get any work done today. So, here's an image, with lots of light, on a morning where I went searching for fog, and found this instead.
