I took this shot while visiting the New England area of New South Wales in April 2014. I had headed to this location for sunrise with my mate Chi, and later that afternoon my wife wanted to check out the Gostwyck Chapel, so I took her here. There were too many people around to photograph the chapel at this time of day so I photographed some nice light across the field.

As vivid the city Van is, so quiet is the surrounding land.
We'll bring a visit to the south-eastern part of the country, for not so many years ago a completely no-go area. Even today you get stopped by a military checkpoint on the way to Yüksekova and Hakkiri suspiciously asking you about your motives and your goal. Why are you visiting this area, where do you plan to stay? Of course they want to check your car to be sure you don't smuggle weapons or anything else.
Welcome to this beautiful part of the country near the Iranian and Iraqi borders, surrounded by the highest mountains (nearly all over 4,000m), impressive castles and endless skies in what looks like a true no man's land, except for the peregrinating nomads.
To be continued...

A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon meeting up with fellow Flickr friends and shooting the iconic mines at Botallack.
Captured as the mines catch the end of day light. I extended shutter time to gain some movement in the clouds. Apologies for any hot pixels left behind...
Thanks very much for viewing :)
