"Eye Level" is a 1972 single by the Simon Park Orchestra. It was produced originally for the De Wolfe Music Library and selected by Thames Television to be the theme tune for their Netherlands-based detective series Van der Valk.
The tune became popular with audiences and Columbia Gramophone Company issued it as a single (catalogue number DB 8946) with the theme to Granada Television's drama series Crown Court, entitled "Distant Hills", on the B-side. The record entered the UK chart for just two weeks in late 1972. Almost a year later, the record was re-issued and in September 1973 it became a hit, with four weeks at No.1 and a further 20 weeks in the top 50. Total sales were 1,005,500, gaining the award of a platinum disc and becoming one of the 12 best-selling singles of the 1970s.

The north end of Dennison Beach ends in a series of rock platforms called 'The Porches' that exhibit all manner of marine weathering.
The rock varies from shale to mudstone with many inclusions and odd deposits. There are a couple of coal (or lignite) seams along with petrified wood and other fossils.
Here, a fissure has been exploited by the sea to eat away at the island.
Next couple of posts will explore some of the interesting rockpools of the Porches.

This view was like a 5 minute walk from where I stayed in Reykjavik. Those people are spoiled.
Got the urge today to experiment with some HDR photography again. This is a 7 shot exposure (at .7 increments), hand-held.

Egrets and herons nesting at water level in this freshwater pond in Taylor, Texas leaves nests and birds vulnerable to devastating losses during flooding. I've only observed drought conditions here in recent years and will have to research flooding in the area in the past. However, as a fairly new rookery (4 or 5 years old or so, I believe), I've not seen any prior flooding of the rookery).
This shot was taken 13 days before the severe Memorial Day 2015 flooding which inundated a significant proportion of the nests at this nuisance rookery in Central Texas .

Today is Nard's birthday! And so to celebrate, he, Jo and I ventured across the bridge to Quebec to enjoy some Thai food.
Afterwards, we all convened over at their place for presents and homemade ice cream cake! Jo did a great job with the cake, it was super tasty and I think we all agreed that it was a winner!
As an added bonus, with our powers combined (but mostly Nard), we fixed the focus issues with my camera! Hurray! Life can finally return to normal as we close the chapter on my most recent electronic malfunctions!

Lujiazui (en chino simplificado, 陆家嘴; pinyin, Lùjiāzuǐ), antiguamente conocido como Lokatse por su pronunciación en shanghainés, es una zona de Shanghái, constituida por una península formada por un meandro del Río Huangpu. Desde comienzos de la década de 1990, Lujiazui se ha desarrollado específicamente como el nuevo distrito financiero de Shanghái. La decisión de asignar este uso a Lujiazui refleja su localización: se sitúa en el lado este del río Huangpu en Pudong, justo enfrente del antiguo distrito financiero del Bund, cruzando el río.
Lujiazui es una zona de desarrollo de nivel nacional designada por el gobierno. En 2005 el Consejo de Estado reafirmó los 31,78 km² de Lujiazui como la única zona financiera y comercial entre las 185 zonas de desarrollo de nivel estatal de China continental.

Lujiazui (Chinese: 陆家嘴; pinyin: Lùjiāzuǐ) is a locality in Shanghai, a peninsula formed by a bend in the Huangpu River. Since the early 1990s, Lujiazui has been developed specifically as a new financial district of Shanghai. The decision to earmark Lujiazui for this purpose reflects its location: it is located on the east side of the Huangpu River in Pudong, and sits directly across the river from the old financial and business district of the Bund.
Lujiazui is a national-level development zone designated by the government. In 2005, the State Council reaffirmed the positioning of the 31.78 km2 (12.27 sq mi) Lujiazui area as the only finance and trade zone among the 185 state-level development zones in mainland China.
Lujiazui is located in the Pudong New District on the eastern bank of Huangpu River. It forms a peninsula on a bend of the Huangpu River, which turns from flowing north to flowing east. The importance of Lujiazui stems from the fact that it lies directly across the river from the Bund, the old financial and business district of Shanghai, and just south of the confluence of the Suzhou Creek with the Huangpu River. Until the 1980s, Lujiazui was a relatively low-built area, featuring residential houses, warehouses, and factories. Following the allocation of Lujiazui as a special investment zone in 1992, the development of Lujiazui's skyline begun. This was largely driven by Chinese state owned enterprises investing and developing the property within the area, with the inaugural landmark, the Oriental Pearl Tower, being completed in 1994.
