A male Bufflehead duck flies along the top of the water - so close that his wing-tip caresses the surface.
One source says the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains range is about 1,000 km (620 mi) in length. Its highest point is 7,090 m (23,260 ft) located 100 km (62 mi) to the northwest of Lhasa. The range is parallel to the Himalayas in the Transhimalayas, and north of the Brahmaputra River. [3] Another source says the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains extend 460 miles (740 km) from Nyêmo County in the west to Ranwu County (the southwestern part of Baxoi County) in the east.
Its highest peak is Mount Nyenchen Tanglha (Nyainqêntanglha Feng) at 7,162 metres (23,497 ft).[4]
The southern side of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains is precipitous, and falls by around 2,000 metres (6,600 ft), while the northern side is fairly level and descends about 1,000 metres (3,300 ft). Most of the mountains are below 6,500 metres (21,300 ft).[5] They contain 7080 glaciers covering an area of 10,700 square kilometres (4,100 sq mi).[4]
The Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains have an average latitude of 30°30'N and a longitude between 90°E and 97°E. Together with the Gangdise Shan located further west, it forms the Transhimalaya [a] which runs parallel to the Himalayas north of the Yarlung Tsangpo River.
The Drukla Chu river rises in the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains, where it is called the Song Chu river, and joins the Gyamda Chu river. The combined rivers run about 100 kilometres (62 mi) southeast to the Yarlung Tsangpo river.

The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights placed 80° CL/CR, 20-inches above and two-feet away from the subject. The speedlights were fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄16 - power through Neewer 24" x 24" soft boxes.
The SB900s were triggered by three PocketWizard Plus X triggers.
Lens: reverse-mounted Nikon EL - Nikkor 50mm/f2.8 with 7mm + 14mm + 28mm extension tubes attached.

An elevated view can give such a different perspective in some locations. NS 421 is rolling east on the water level over the Vermilion river which empties out into Lake Erie on the horizon. While the standard ground level shot could seemingly be well inland, this puts the proximity of the Lake into perspective. 9/4/16

Nighttime at the steam plant which helped power the Ford Ranger assembly plant in St. Paul, Minnesota.
When the assembly plant shut down and was slated for demolition, the steam plant went dormant as well. I had waited years for this moment, and took as many photographs as I could before things got destroyed.

UP YPR60B makes a setout at the lower level of Blommer while overhead, North Line #330 arrives Ogilvie with a repainted F40PH-3. Blommer's lower level receives cocoa butter in tanks cars while the upper level takes sugar in covered hoppers.

Level three of the local shopping centre car park.
NJ Transit ALP-45DP no. 4519 is seen leading Montclair-Boonton Line train 1003 under the Freemand Pkwy bridge in Glen Ridge, NJ, also crossing Toneys Brook at the same time. The railroad through here was built by the Newark and Bloomfield Railroad in 1856, later grade-separated and double-tracked by the Morris & Essex Railroad in 1912. Electrification came in 1930 - with the first train operated by Thomas Edison himself - and in 1945 full ownership of the line went to the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western.
