Hace 150 millones de años, en el Período Jurásico Medio Superior, el área que ocupa este Monumento Natural de Bosques Petrificados presentaba un clima estable de gran humedad. Se desarrollaban en esta región densos bosques con árboles gigantescos, entre los que merecen destacarse antiguos parientes de los pehuenes o araucarias. Al inicio del Período Cretácico, erupciones volcánicas, que coincidieron con el inicio del levantamiento de la Cordillera, sepultaron vastas extensiones del territorio patagónico, con ceniza y lava. Parte de los bosques cubiertos por cenizas fueron sometidos a procesos de petrificación. El surgimiento de la Cordillera de los Andes produjo transformaciones drásticas en el ambiente, al cambiar el clima de toda la Patagonia. Desde entonces, la humedad transportada por los vientos del Pacífico se condensa al atravesar las alturas y origina lluvias que permiten el desarrollo de los bosques andino patagónicos actuales. Los fuertes vientos continúan su camino hacia el Este desecando aún más la estepa. Posteriormente, la erosión de un territorio que se fue haciendo cada vez más árido, la lluvia y el viento, dejaron al descubierto grandes sectores de estos bosques que se petrificaron con el transcurrir de millones de años, quedando inclusive algunos ejemplares en pie.

The Lundup Tsemo Gompa Buddhist Monastery in Komic houses the ‘Maitreya Buddha’ (Future Buddha). People believe that the Maitreya Buddha looks after the wellbeing of the villagers. The 14th-century monastery has a fortified castle made of slanted mud walls, taking you back to the yesteryears through the beautiful murals, scriptures, and arts.
Spotted these beauties on a fantastic summer's evening (the longest day too!) and went chasing after them in my car. I found this surprisingly difficult as the roads refused to go the same way as the balloons!!!
We are under a drought warning in PA. This is a lake near my house and the water levels are lower than I've ever seen them. This was a few weeks ago and the levels are much lower now. We need rain very badly!!!

Daytime in the upper levels of the steam plant which helped power the Ford Ranger assembly plant in St. Paul, Minnesota.
There are so many huge windows in this space, I always wanted to sleep in a hammock overnight to see the sunrise here.
Taken about twenty minutes before sunrise.
Just a slight contrast boost and spot clean up.
