Snowy Egret
The Snowy Egret (Egretta thula) is a small white heron. It is the American counterpart to the very similar Old World little egret, which has established a foothold in the Bahamas. At one time, the beautiful plumes of the snowy egret were in great demand by market hunters as decorations for women's hats. This reduced the population of the species to dangerously low levels. Now protected in the United States by law, under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, this bird's population has rebounded.

Adelpha butterflies are colloquially known as 'Sisters'. In terms of appearance they are reminiscent of the White Admirals ( Limenitis ) of Eurasia, and share with them a fondness for flitting gracefully around the lower branches of trees in the dappled sunlight of the forest.
There are 85 known species of Adelpha, all except two of which are confined to Central and South America. The butterflies are characterised by having a distinctive blackish marbled pattern overlaid on a brown ground colour; and by the presence of a broad orange or white band on the forewings. The hindwings of most species have a white median band.
Adelpha leucophthalma occurs as 3 subspecies distributed variously from Nicaragua to Ecuador.
This is a cloudforest species, found at elevations between about 800-1700m.

A rather different form of transport today as we visited the mid levels escalators area of Victoria in search of dinner (we were advised that there is lots of restaurant choices here).
The Central–Mid-Levels escalator cuts through the Mid-Levels, from Central to Conduit Road. It allows people to travel quickly between these two places, compared with travelling by the winding roads up the mountain. At 800 metres (2,600 ft), it is the longest outdoor escalator in the world. It was opened on 15 October 1993. The escalator runs downhill from 6 am to 10 a.m. and uphill from 10:30 a.m. to midnight every day. Pedestrians travelling in the opposite direction make use of the adjacent stairs and footpaths. Apart from its transportation function, it is a tourist attraction. Sections of the escalator had been under renovation in 2018 and 2019, with some sections closed for maintenance.

The Great Lakes water levels are at an all time high this year. This is the East Point lighthouse near the village of Killarney on Georgian Bay taken last month. The winds were whipping up gusts of about 80 km at times. When the water levels are high, the crashing waves can cause real damage on shore. There is another lighthouse on Georgian Bay in Lions Head. Last week the wind took off the one side of the lighthouse and left the inside exposed to the elements. Huge boulders around the lighthouse were displaced. Sadly, there is not much money spent on maintaining the lighthouses anymore.

Shot taken for Saturday Self Challenge 26/04/2025 -- Bubbles .
You will have to do with just the two bubbles for the challenge , there was a spirit bubble on the tripod but is always hidden once a camera is mounted .
Anyway , here is a neat little level that fits into the flash hotshoe on top of the camera . With it in this configuration you can check that the camera is not tilting to one side or the other and that you are taking a shot with a level view . Of course if it is wonky horizons you are worried about then most cameras will have a built in indicator available to activate on the rear screen or in the viewfinder !!
Worth it one way or another , nothing so annoying as to see an image that is tilted when it should be straight ( Dutch Angles excepted ) !!
A good friend from a photo site back in the day who was a brilliant photographer always said about how wonky horizons were bad photography which could be easily fixed with post processing being one of the quickest and easiest fixes going - something I have never forgotten D.J. !!
Well a bubble challenge sorted and for a tune to go with it , I wonder how many of you will remember this ----
As an experiment, I used the new Luminar software for the RAW conversion and basic processing for this. Blown highlights in the white shoulder area weren't handled well by the Aperture raw converter but Luminar has worked better. If Luminar can follow up with the promised photo library management functionality it might prove a worthy Aperture replacement. (May be of interest to those of you interested in Luminar's performance.)

FOCUS Sea Brook 100K Photography challenge Category: Sensuality
I'm in Flickr since a month and a half (I joined in the middle of february). For a guy who have around 200 followers, wich are pretty few, it's hard to appear in a cover or have a hundred of favorites. For some great artists with thousand of followers, this achievement could mean less than means for me.
That's the reason I'm so proud and gratefull to reach to Second Life Amazing Pics Hall of Fame. In order to have a shot there, your pic has to receive 22 nominees from other artist who are in the same process. It's hard for a begginer like me.
I want to thank Erish Sonata, my dear friend and the model who had the patience to let me take 47 shots that compound this picture and stood still for about 1 and half hour.
My compliments to Daisie Larkspur, who manage the pics who climb up over it's levels.
Likewise, I wish to thank everybody who follow and fav my pics. It's an extre fuel to do more.
